  USA petro contains 10% ethanol to lower the need to buy oil from Mideast and suppose to reduce pollution except ethanol takes energy to convert

  India realease their lands for cultivation but gh dont ..,,so the idea is to bring in raw matetial from there to feed the factory ,,.......gh for yu,,,,,,,,,its done every where....,,,

  I am so surprised a Minister will say the people are already planting sugar cane. If it was his own money would he take that risk. The factory will be competing with other sugar producers - Brazil, Cuba etc. Does he know the sugar content (extraction rate) and yield of the sugar cane cultivated in the area now compared to international sugar producers. What he should be telling us is how they intend to introducing high yield varieties with high sugar content, and how the irrigation canals will be restored to ensure yield when the Birim river is highly polluted. Stop giving us JHS excuses. Any investor worth his sort will ask whether there is enough sugar cane to justify the plant size at at about 85% capacity utilisation to break even in the a couple of years. Is Ghana going to be able to ban sugar imports when it could not ban rice imports.How will loans taken from China and Brazil affect policy choices available to government to protect sugar production just as we failed to restrict Chinese rice

WHAT MAY MOTIVATE THEM IS THAT A KILO OF SUGAR RETAILS FOR LESS THAN GHc5 WHILE A KILO OF APIO RETAILS FOR GREATER THAN GHc12!!!
