I wish this US ambassador in Ghana made no comment about politics in Ghana.He should direct his comments to America where politics is full of corruption and politicians do not take care of ordinary americans but have become the slaves of rich individuals and big companies.Only the rich can be elected to either the House of Representatives or Congress.More than half of both Congress and House of Representative members are millionaires.I IMPLORE THE AMBASSADOR TO ADVISE HIS PEOPLE TO CLEAN THEIR CORRUPT POLITICAL SYSTEM WHICH FAVOURS ONLY THE RICH.

I don't believe that the US Ambassador is meddling in Ghana's politics with his insightful observations and pieces of useful advice to the Ghanaian electorate. He comes across as a genuine and sincere friend of our country who wants our democracy to succeed and blossom for the benefit of all citizens. We better pay attention to observations such as his. There are no coequal branches under our constitution insofar as the practical manifestations of their powers is concerned. The executive branch absolutely trumps the legislature and the judiciary, and that lopsidedness of power undermines our democracy. There is the need to strengthen the powers and functions of the legislature in order for it to check the excesses of the executive branch and hold it to account. Yes, the Ambassador is right with his observations and advice.

We are not serious in Ghana yet we wish to see others take us seriously. Can the folks at classfm point to a time when legislators from any of the 50 states in the USA or from the national government went to Canada or Europe looking to learn the inner workings of government at host nations? How about legislators from European nations going to the Americas to learn about legislative processes and procedures? When legislators from either ends of the continents have travelled they did to expand trade or open markets. As far back as I can remember Ghana government delegates have made annual pilgrimage to every corner of the world seeking loans and to learn; they've returned to Ghana dumbed down, used their trips to buy things they could not get in Ghana or better yet made connections for future escapes and visits for other family members.
If we are going to sit in Ghana and not understand or see what is good, bad and ugly with our system of governance and have to be lectured by dignitaries from foreign nations then we couldn't have matured intellectually since our independence; we carry our slave era mentality with us unto today. Decentralization has not done much for the USA either historically or in practice today. The USA continue to have race problems because all of its southern states continue to be vile and despicable against minorities of different racial background; they continue to fight against proposals that would take America where it ought to be even while they carry Christian Bibles around and go to church pretending to know what God is about or want. In the end it is the national American government that sends money to subsidize budgets in Southern states. Ghana does not need or pretend decentralization can work. A successful decentralized system has one and only one character trait; a property tax base. In Ghana, 90 percent of districts cannot pay their way to buy toilet tissue.

Good idea, but if the individual has no love of country, he is a dishonest crook and corrupt, why shouldn't the people vote on personalities? We the Society for Prevention of Corruption And Cruelty Against Ghana have been advicating to give more power, especially the power of the purse to parliament as a check on the executive duping the people, and holding the executive accountable. We urge tbe embassy to check African governments from stealing from their own people. Help Africa stop corruption at high places. Enforce term limits in politics. This is what Africa asks from the US. Ghana can do better if our leaders are sincere and not acquiring private jets all of a sudden when Kwame Nkrumah did not have as Founding Father of Ghana, a private plane. US should push the Ghana leadership to stop the canker of corruption in the Mahama regime. We need Akuffo Addo to see us through.
