At least, it does not strike me as a position be assumed too farfetched, or "dehumanizing" to expect that the pivotal role of EC in Ghana should be about precisely the administration of "free and fair elections" to the best of its capacities...and, in the interest of the country as a whole, despite who may have appointed its officer, Ms. Osei. In part, it may be her duty to find errors in such applications in the furtherance of the concept of "free and fair elections" in Ghana. What seems, however, unremarkable is EC's entrenched position that it cannot have a wrong or misguided interpretation of the law in its current evaluation of the applications of the dismissed presidential hopefuls. EC must keep in mind that "just powers" of the State are derivative of the "consent of the governed" in any democratic dispensation, unless EC subtely holds the view that the governed, in this case, is uneducatedly miserable to champion their own interests and, or defend themselves. Hence, EC must then become the guardian of the governed...and, as unfortunate as it reads and sounds. Mind you, a "closed democracy" is rather a disservice to the governed, and can lead to unwise abuses of the system.
