Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s running mate to Nana Akufo-Addo, has remarked that the John Mahama government seems to be more committed to themselves and schemes that will make their pockets fatter than in delivering on their core mandate of developing the nation and reducing the hardships of the people.
  
  Dr Bawumia observed that this seems to be the reason why there is always money for scandalous schemes and projects that obviously end up enriching officials and cronies of the government, but there is always none when it comes to money for development and social investment.
  
  Nana Akufo-Addo’s running mate made the comments in Offinso in the Ashanti Region on the first day of his three-day tour of the region.
  
  He said “the NDC came to meet a debt of GHS9.5billion, which had been accrued from1957 to 2008, but in only 8 years the NDC has moved our debt from GHS9.5billion to GHS110 billion. 90% of Ghana’s debt has, therefore, been accrued just in these last eight years. Again, when one sums up all the taxes and loans, the NPP accrued onlyGHS20 billion for all the work we did. The NDC in eight years have had GHS248 billion from loans and taxes.”
  
  Dr. Bawumia wondered why after so much resources, the NDC had still succeeded in making times hard for the ordinary Ghanaian and ended up collapsing almost all social intervention programmes.
  
  “Despite all these resources, however, this government cannot pay what it has to pay to the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), it cannot sustain the School Feeding Programme, National Youth Employment Programme or Free Maternal Care programme; they have cancelled Teacher Training and Nursing Training Allowances, they are owing contractors and cannot pay the School Feeding Grants too,” he said.

  The EC Boss will soon be exposed for her fraudulent acts. Contrary to the norm, the EC Boss received nomination forms from NDUOM without giving the latter a copy. By the judgement of the High Court it means that the EC must hand-over all the four copies of Nduom to the PPP to make amendments and that is where the Nigerian turned Ghanaian will be exposed for her fraudulent disqualification of a full blooded Ghanaian like Nduon. The fact is that the reasons given by the EC to disqualify Dr Nduom were cooked and not based on facts. That is why she is trying to seek refuge at the Supreme Court.

  If what I read is true that some of the disqualified applications had criminal aspects which ought to be investigated by the police why is Amidu taken that stance and ddriving home with supporters. How do we get our systems to work efficiently if individuals who have clouts in the society like Amidu should blatantly kick against a system designed to seeking declarations of presidential nomination process data with legal commitment.
  
  Amidu describes the forms as complex, maybe not user friendly or difficult to understand, but other applicants sailed through successfully. Ironically he refers to the EC boss as incompetent and not the applicant who failed and found himself in forgery criminality. I could relate to Amidu,s stance if the errors were just oversight or common errors, but impersonation and forgery, and you side with the decision that the perpetrator should take his forms to go and clean up? I don't know.
  
  No system will ever work efficiently and effective in Ghana, then.

Kwesi Pratt is the most dangerous Journalist Ghana had ever have, he had the gut to recommend his fellow journalists to be executed by PNDC. Pratt even recommended Baako to be killed by the regime, thank God Baako was instead touchered violently and severely but his life was spared. This is what Kwesi Pratt can do. Now Pratt is a secret agent to NDC and US Embassy in Ghana. May God forgive Pratt and spare him the untold evils that will come upon him and his generations.   Charlotte Osei EC Boss
  It is exactly one month to the crucial Presidential and Parliamentary elections, but everything is in a limbo. Instead of the count-down, we are now counting the number of court suits against the Electoral Commission.
  
  When an Accra High Court, presided over by Mr. Justice Kyei Baffour, ruled on Friday in favour of a petition before it, and ordered the Electoral Commission to allow Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, founder and flagbearer of the Progressive People’s Party, to correct the details in his nomination forms and re-submit same for consideration, as part of an elaborate process to put his name on the national presidential ballot paper, it opened the floodgates for more suits against the commission.
  
  Today, lawyers for Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings are expected to move to an Accra High Court, in a case in which the former First Lady is seeking the re-instatement of her name on the 2016 presidential ballot box. Tomorrow, another court in Accra is expected to give a directive on a similar case involving Dr. Edward Nasiri Mahama, the disqualified flagbearer of the People’s National Convention.
  
  There is every indication that the commission would be very busy in court in the preceding days. With the presidential and presidential elections at the home stretch, the Electoral Commission should be more concerned about the election processes, and not petitions.
  
  For me, as a social commentator, the problem should be laid squarely at the doorsteps of President John Dramani Mahama, who thrust the heavy burden of supervision over this nation’s elections on the tiny shoulders of largely, untried and less than clear nationality identity of Mrs. Charlotte Osei.
  
  There two major reasons why I have always believed Mrs. Osei has no business leading the Electoral Commission. If you Google Charlotte Osei to Wikipedia, you would be told that Charlotte’s mother was a Nigerian. The old lady visited her ancestors about six months ago.
  
  Charlotte herself was born in Nigeria. We have a Constitution, which states clearly in Article 44 (1) thus: “A person is not qualified to be appointed a member of the Electoral Commissioner unless he (or she) is qualified to be elected as a Member of Parliament.
  
  Article 94 (1) on qualification and eligibility of a Member of Parliament states: “Subject to the provisions of this article, a person shall not be qualified to be a Member of Parliament, unless he (or she) is a citizen of Ghana, has attained the age of 21 years, and a registered voter.
  
  Among many others, “a person shall not be qualified to be a Member of Parliament if he (or she) owes allegiance to a country other than Ghana.”
  
  Constitutional experts argue that Mrs. Osei could have acquired Ghanaian citizenship through the father, listed as Kesson-Smith, or through marriage to the person known as Mr. Osei, definitely a Ghanaian name. Be it as it may, Kesson-Smith is one name that could resonate in Liberia, Sierra Leone, Ghana and Nigeria.
  
  What is never in dispute is that while a student at the University of Ghana, Charlotte refused to be identified with Ghana. She was known and called ‘Ama Alata.’ I do not believe any true Ghanaian would want to be identified as ‘Alata.’
  
  Mrs. Charlotte Osei obtained her Masters in Law at the Queens University in Canada. A number of her mates were Ghanaians. Charlotte decided, out of her own volition, to join the Nigerian International Students Association at the university. By then, her room-mate was Lady Julia, now wife of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene. I am told that there was a vibrant Ghana International Students Association, but our current Chairperson of the Electoral Commission turned her back on the Ghanaian association.

  Amidu spewed rubbish ; forms of agreement on contracts or candidacy of leadership of a group or such as elections are always complex and normally those applying for such application has no knowledge of of being able to complete them correctly due to legality implication of it.And therefore it is an interest of those applicants consult consultants on their behave or ltheir legitimate reps. filling those forms according to the requirements of the forms.For that reason. There is no need for electoral commision workers who being serving the EC decades must come to know that,it is time they retire and open their own consulting offices to deal with these kinds of situation.They should team up with lawyers and help individual candidate representing parties to get their form of participation done correct. And they can also hire youth to help them on paper work as well and also part of employment creation

So if a person is entitled to vote as a right , is that person not under a law or a condition to do the right thing before that right is granted? are they not laws governing all things no matter your right or not.? if there is a fraudulent criminal doings of the citizen or forgery it should be over ruled and take shelter on what the constitution is saying about human right and allow that criminal to go ahead? all these constitution about human right to vote and to contest do not come on void, One has to satisfy conditions before allowed, so i don't understand Amidu here. The law is an ass and double edged sword. Those who have money and are influential can manipulate it and the weak and less privilege are at its mercy.

  The simple fact of the matter is that the applications were filed with errors that rendered the applications invalid. Period! It was up to the EC to use its discretion to apply the Law as written, or temper it with leniency to allow for corrections to be made. Not being lenient in application of the Law does not break the Law.
  
  Amidu must stop his endless revenge at the Party he was forced to abandon. I did admire, and still support, his stance against the Government over Woyomegate. But what he is doing to the EC is rather dangerous as it first, undermines the Electoral process, and second, sets the members of the Parties whose candidates were disqualified personally against the EC Chairperson.
  
  Charlotte Osei did not target personalities. She only tightened application of the Law to its legal limit. Amidu could call her too strict or merciless. But he has no grounds to allege that Charlotte Osei intends to rig the Elections by the disqualifications she meted out to the lazy candidates who could not file their applications right for the highest Office in the country.
  
  We should have no room for mediocrity in the process, even if we cannot guarantee perfection at performance on the Job. The candidates should have known that the filing was a one-time process, not a continuous one that could be interrupted and adjusted at whim.
  
  It is like writing a final Exam. Once the Paper is submitted, we cannot withdraw it to be corrected for re-submission--which brings me into conflict with the Court on the decision for Nduom.
  
  Amidu of all people, acting as a Citizen-vigilante, should be appreciating any effort by Officials to demand precision and accuracy and diligence brought to bear on our endeavors. As it is, only revenge could best explain Amidu's tirade against the EC head.

Stop this nonsense about PPP presidential candidate not being able to fill a form in a correct manner....The fact is the listed information that the corruptible EC "For their eyes only" shielded from them was the cause...How in a vague system do you expect them to tell if a voter/ supporter has wrongly listed to vote in two districts if the information is shortcoming..Weren't the EC expected to clean the voters list? With all the technology available, couldn't they erect a system to alert the candidates about all disqualified voters (listed only as officially supporting their application on their forms). This would have prevented all this wasted time and taxpayers money in court!!!!

  Mr.Amidu,you are great in your field,Almigty God shld bless you with strenght,long life,and the spirit of boldiness and to enlightening Ghanaian community,yes this woman(Charllote Osei Mrs) is strategically using police to intimidate the people she willfully disqualified them and paint them as criminals,what I am saying here is regarding double registration the Almigty Supreme Court has advice EC to clean the registrar how came that since court ruling there is still dirt in the register by which the person responsible for the cleaning of the register is using her negligence and strategy to rig the election to disqualify some applicants

Stop this nonsense about PPP presidential candidate not being able to fill a form in a correct manner....The fact is the listed information that the corruptible EC "For their eyes only" shielded from them was the cause...How in a vague system do you expect them to tell if a voter/ supporter has wrongly listed to vote in two districts if the information is shortcoming..Weren't the EC expected to clean the voters list? With all the technology available, couldn't they erect a system to alert the candidates about all disqualified voters (listed only as officially supporting their application on their forms). This would have prevented all this wasted time and taxpayers money in court!!!!

  If you are going to a bank for loan and you are to produce three peoples name as guarantees with their signatures and you the receiver to that loan went ahead to get just one person to put forward his/her name and the signature theafter massaging the same name and the signature to get the required guarantors. In that case what the bank do to such a person. Nduom's case is a criminal case hence need to be dealt with accordingly. For Martin Amidu, better luck next time to your vice presidential bid in the NDC. JM TOASO SAAA.
