JJ Rawlings denied ever receiving the money from Abacha when the story came out. Years later he confirmed he did in deed receive the funds but a lesser amount than that which was originally reported. Isn't that truth enough ? What is the purpose of further inquisition? Dr. Lartey if you have discovered a colony of Angels since you arrived on this planet earth, please tells us where it is and we will invite them to come and run the affairs of Ghana.!

And if J.J. Rawlings took money from corrupt Nigerian leaders for a project in Ghana then by all means show me or ask Rawlings to tell us about that phantom project.
J.J. Rawlings took money at a time he, J.J. Rawlings, knew those leaders did not have personal wealth to give to him as gift and at a time when he Rawlings had ignorantly and willfully killed others in Ghana who gave money to friends or mismanaged state funds. So if Rawlings would kill people for corruption why would he accept a gift from corrupt sources; it’s hypocritical at the very minimum but indeed evil deeds lacking in human decency to kill people for the very things he does.

Abacha DIDN'T give the money to JJ as a gift! He gave it as aid at a time that the government was struggling without success for international assistance. At the time, Ghanaian dissidents in the diaspora were junketting around campaigning against foreign assistance to Ghana. It was not a gift.
Additionally, those monies were disbursed openly and immediately those leaders knew it was money. Ghana didn't ask for it.

The problem of JJ was to have denied acceptance of the money thinking it not only undermined his judgment and principles before the public when the matter was raise but the fact that it was from Abacha who was perceived as a dictator and a fraud.
