They have a record, and this should guide every straight thinking person. What happened to VAT after the deadly Kumepreko demonstration? Not only did they retain, they went further to increase it by 2.5 percentage points. What happened to fuel prices after carrying gallons throughout the country accusing Rawlings of being insensitive? Not only did they increase the price, they increased it by 65% within the first 3 months, then 100% the following 6 months, the highest in our history. What happened to their promises to reduce taxes? Not only did they retain some and increased others, they also introduced now ones like taxes on corporate profits, TOR recovery levy etc. As for their promises to build a Polytechnic for each district, Railway line from Takoradi to Wa, High-rise apartments in Nima and other Zongo communities, Convert chop bars to modern restaurants, Give employment to every Ghanaian willing and able to work, the least said about the the better because it will only resurrect the pain and hurt caused to Ghanaians by the zero attempt at doing them. These people are good are spewing sweet words meant to deceive in order to lie their way to power. That is the NPP for you. All well-meaning Ghanaians must ignore these hungry goons.

Every government should be bold enough to increase taxes and discriminate among the various sectors of the economy because the tax Base for a muddle income country like Ghana is very low. In Kenya the ceiling for Corporate tax is 30% and in South Africa it's 28%. The max ceiling for individual income tax is 40% in Kenya and 40% in South Africa. The point here is if you do not have the courage to match the standard in Africa just keep what you have i however support any discrimination which is geared towards reducing taxes for the manufacturing industry in Ghana

As far as I know,Ghana produces only cocoa and gold for export.There was a time we had timber,manganese and bauxite;they are not vibrant these days.If I should go by IMANI's analysis,it means reduction of taxes will result in producing more cocoa and gold.What about if cocoa and gold prices fall in the world market?Will there be any increase in revenue and employment?We are following Western capitalism without having equal production and trade policies.Togo,Benin,Niger are almost tax free countries,IMANI should tell us what they are producing more than Ghana and how much revenue they collect more than Ghana.We will have to scrutinise capitalist economic theories properly because we are not playing the same game.Thank you.

Despite taken a week for IMANI to come out with their analysis on NPP manisfesto they have handled it with soft gloves. I was expecting them to cost their numerous giver aways and their expected revenue and how they will meet any shortfall. There is also a question on their policy of one district one factory taking into consideration that it will be led by private companies. Then question is are private companies ready to move to all the 126 districts to extablish companies and what type of companies? Are Ghanaian unemployed graduate ready to work as a factory boy/girl? We need to be serious in policy initiatives not to say anything just for power.
