Until Africans or West Africans find a common purpose and integration which sadly, may take a long time, we will never succeed in building content or even wealthy environments.
The European Union actually gives quarters to her nations just to protect unhealthy competition and maximise growth.
In West Africa, we are so divided and like crabs in a bucket, pulling each other down all the time.
the French nations over-rely on France, Sierra Leone on Britian, Liberia on America and Nigeria and Ghana hassling it out. We are all losers if you check our GDPs.

Whether regionally or globally. All producers spend million of dollars a year in an expenditure called market research budget trying to find markets, customers for their products. Your question how can we develop the manufacturing base if they are already killing our industries by dumping? Why a good question, you can not answer it if you do not understand how they have been successful at dumping to kill the industries in the first place. This your president and his bunch of idiotic advisors just like yourself has no clue. Why would any sane person start talking about integrated market when there's nothing to sell? You can only compete when you have a similar product as your competitors. So I would advise the president to first have a product and enhance it close to the quality of the dumped products, then he can move to the next step of finding, developing and securing a market for that product. The dumping will die a natural death with the right application of these tools. You do not achieve eradication of dumping by making stupid noises. You must first use your head and do more reasoning...not blabbering your mouth. Last advise : it is not a crime to find a market for one's products...when one invest in developing a product they will do the next logical thing, find market somewhere to sell it...you call it dumping, the call it marketing strategy. Got it??

Your simple understanding of the market from the white man's treasured economic books have little or no bearing on reality.
U forget, if you improve your products, the dumpers will also improve theirs.
Our disloyal but high and adoration for foreign goods is part of the problem.
Buying power is another and many many other factors.
They mainly seek your market to create extra jobs at home and in turn kill ur jobs. It is a wild world out there not the friendly, friendly world you naive souls think.
I just hope you naive souls get ur chance to mess up.
Afterall, we are still trying out theories till we succeed.

I've been out of the classroom many many years ago. Practicing with multinational organizations for years, some of which are heavily involved in your so called "dumping phenomenon". And all too very familiar with the strategies and policies employed by these organizations and their home countries to enable them compete globally. You may refer to it as my simple understanding of markets and economics..which in the first place tells me a lot about you, a blabber who has not clue and has never been in any driver seat and has never been engaged in a high level decision making process that required an extensive use of brain power to achieve an intended ,target goal or vision. A president foolishly talking about market integration without addressing some of the fundamental factors on the ground that creates an enabling environment for it's private market to effectively compete.
As simple as it may sound to you, that simplicity is what you and your ilk have been over looking thinking there is a magic one out there that some how will change things overnight without going back to the drawing board and figure out what it is that we are not doing right in terms of what you loosely referred to as basic or simple economics...My friend, you and your government are bankrupt of ideas... you are continuously pursuing contractionary strategies in a contracting economic environment and you are wondering why the economy is not growing or expanding and why businesses are folding. There are set of rules and generally accepted strategies, practices, tactics that are employed in both contractionary and expansionary economic cycles my boy. You just don't do things any how and expect a desired result. You have to know what works in what situation ok. Who raises taxes to stimulate an economy already starving entrepreneurs and consumers of available cash? Is the craziest thing I have seen done. Who repeatedly issues treasury bills whose main purpose is control liquidity in an economy meanwhile this economy is already anaemic of available liquidity for the private industry. Who continuously raises a central bank prime rate in an economy suffering from a prolong period of contractionary pressures and already expensive cost of credit for it's private industry. Who borrows for infrastructure development and leaves the the countries high liquidity financing risk untamed and expects to avoid external pressure on it foreign exchange rates disparity? Only a clueless government with clueless and good for nothing blabbers like yourself who think they know shit but has no clue. Come again with something worth my salt mate. In the private industry, a CEO will not be borrowing money to build new factories and office spaces if it is not able to increase revenues and generate return on investment for its stakeholders in the interim and tell board of directors that, hey guys I'm building a bigger company for you here for the future, even if we are bankrupt now so retain me to continue on the same path...so stupid
