It is then up to the employer to train the fresh graduate to employ his/her reasoning and analytical skills to tasks that the employer needs to be done.
No one graduates from university purpose fit to work for IBM, Microsoft, Toyota, The Armed Forces, General Electric or the UT Holdings.
This UT boss is not ever going to play in the Big Leagues if he expects fresh graduates to be purpose nuilt for his business.Re

Govt should look at the german model which focuses on apprenticeship and training....
Some of the jobs this UT boss is talking about do not need university degree...they just using graduates because they are available in those quantities..
Also the professional associations such architects, doctors, engineers should control the number of professionals graduated every year as was done in the 1980s....One engineering school is enough for the size of the ghanaian economy...the rest should be returned to producing the middle level skill sets

I believe the retired Captain is not saying that during their time of "high quality" education, they fitted straight into work without any training whatsoever. No university teaches everything industry requires. Graduates need to train, and learn on the job! Presently most companies want to poach already trained and experienced personnel from competitors. Very few want to recruit and spend money to train. This is part of the reasons for the high unemployment. The universities are still turning out excellent quality materials.
