The Jute and shoe factories ran night shifts in Kumasi when I was a boy. Ghana was on its way when fools came to take over and ruined it.

Fix the power problems first. Yesterday the high school in my neighborhood was able to play American football in the night. How many teams can do that under DUMSOR in Ghana where stealing is the norm of the day. The ECG should be privatized to bring efficiency in the system. There are also too many thieves in Ghana and those who steal from the government or from the employers should be punished severely

I hope Ghanaian workers will act discipline and stop demonstrations and striking whenever they want. In life you have to sow before you reap.

Sista, how do you run your business for 24 hours when ECG provides only 6 hours of electric power?

Madam, there is no way you can achieve that without providing a proper infrastructure. Who wants to invest a huge amount of money to build a plant and endure constant dumsor, or flooding that makes roads unusable, just to name a few.You should rather advice the Governments whether it's the NDC or NPP or whoever to tackle these challenges first. One should learn how to crawl before you start running

The issue of demand for the products is a significant factor. Of course, the products have to be sold when they are produced. If a market does not exist for the products, how can a 24-hour production scheme be sustained?

Very often decision makers who have never done any business forget about the fact that local demand, pricing and incomes are factors that cannot be separated.
Historically, Ghana exported cocoa and imported sardines, tin milk, whisky etc. Because the cocoa was bought from the farm at incredibly low prices, the imported commodities were also priced at extremely low prices to, in a way, compensate cocao producers for their under-paid efforts. This is where the cycle of low income-low pricing was born. Today the phrase "TOO EXPENSIVE" is spoken by every Ghanaian at least 10 times daily.
So the cycle goes on: Ghanaians don't buy what the produce because it is too expensive. The goods appear too expensive to Ghanaians because their income is extremely low, and because the investor must recover the dollars invested in buying other inputs.
Fancy minimum wage at GHC5.00 per day. Then adjust for cost of:
1) Return transport to work =GHC2.00
2) Breakfast = GHC1.00
3) Lunch =GHC1.00
4) Dinner =GHC1.00
How do you buy what you produce if you spend GHC5.00 to go to work so you can earn GHC5.00?
Oh! by the way the worker has not yet paid for his rent and utilities.
May be we need Nana Bonsam to help Ghanains solve this dilema.
Producers, should therefore be looking for external demand for their 24-hour production routines.
