Most of the issues Bawumia has been raising were theories we studied in Econ 301 or 302 at Legon, but when confronted with realities of political economy and attendant sociology-cultural/electoral pressures, they don't work. There are a lot of fine economists in the finance Ministry as well as BoG but why are things not working well?
Some of the economic challenges we are battling with today were spill overs from policies/programmes/projects Kufuor implemented in his second term, some at the tail end of his tenure that were not handled well by Mills/Mahama administration due to same political reasons leading to situations getting out of hand.
Doubt it? think about the following on GoG: 6 major road project started in 2008, single spine pay policy, school feeding program, capitation grant, health insurance, youth employment, etc., etc. with no sustainable source of funding. ? All these took place at the time when the same Kuffuor regime re-based the Ghanaian economy in 2008 into Middle income status; implying most donor funding will be and were indeed cut (policies that increase government expenditure but narrow its source of funding).
Ghana must now borrow from high interest market instead of conventional loans with low rate and longer amortization period. SOEs that were hitherto sold to balance budgets were finished. The last one Kuffour sold was Ghana Telecom in 2008.
What Atta/Mahama should have done was to cancel or reschedule some of these policies/programmes/projects but at what political cost
Bawumia should therefore exercise caution and moderation else the very issues he is hungrily raising today will be the very things that will confront his government should he fail to live by them in the event of NPP forming the next government. Check what is happening in Nigeria, Buhari government is on its knees

There were World Bank, your IMF and the other gurus there and they nodded their heads in agreement. Now Kuffuor left government eight years ago so why can't NDC fools correct the so called mistakes. We all know he is a liar and will do everything if it concerns endeavors to gain upper for the coming elections. But that's what politicians do.

Bawumia was in BoG, what did he do best to alleviate the dire situation at the time? He didn't even lift his little finger to criticize Kufuor's extremely greedy behavior at every turn of the way after so many years of NDC mismanagement thievery.

Kufuor's time was obviously the best on could have to build the economy. But it was obvious he came to steal and Mill's seriously pathetic "father of the nation" position deprived him of the acumen to find a way to prosecute the thief Kufuor.

Or the President would be a real "Nana" in the true sense of the word and lazy around while the Vice runs the country? The NPP definitely needs to change their constitution for that situation. After the Supreme Court fiasco, Bawumia the sacrificial lamb is thrown into the fray while the real power horses wait in the shade.

Some times i wonder if Mr Gentle giant really understand the terrible experience we had when he was uncharge of Ghana. At least most of Ghanaians saw their condition of life he and his colleagues were before they gained political power and what their lives have been after leaving the governance scene. At least we remember his old mercedes benz car he was using and even at a stage when he visited JJ Rawlings at the castle his car could not be sparked hence Rawlings ordered that they gave him a better car for him to go home. We remember vividly the way Bawumia handled the changing of our old money to the new one. We heard how old monies collected from us were given back to NPP activities to re present at the bank and collected the new cedes. Rokko Frimpong who was working at the bank of Ghana had to loose his precious life because he stood up against Bawumia and others cheating Ghanaians. How could MR Gentle giant say it is this their call Bawumia can help solve the problems of Ghana. Mr Gentle Giant be honest and admit that President Mahama in three years did far better than what you did in eight years. You and your colleagues only came in to amass wealth and built empire around you. God had seen all the bad things you people did as government.
