Hi Mr Spio, plz issue more licenses for cement importation, some of them thought they can continue punishing Ghanaians like Ghacem. More license. A bag of cement is sold at GHC 22.75 in Togo, why not here.

If it's true, I congratulate the Minister. We need to break the back of the local Cement producers. They are cheats. Cement is just too expensive in Ghana. Cement have to be less than 10 cedis a bag. Like in a lot of cases, China would come to our aid by supplying affordable cement. If our standard agencies are up to their salt, they can ensure that the cement used in building up China, should be imported.

At Ghc 30 or so a bag of cement in Accra and up to Ghc. 35 in Brong Ahafo, it is about high time that the government free the cement market to the relief of the Ghanaian builders and the ultimate consumer. The current regulated market is only in the interest of manufacturers and, therefore, Mr. Spio Garbrah's efforts to allow into Ghana is commendable and should be supported. If the cement producers in Ghana do not like the market being freed, they should pull out their investments out of cement production to more profitable sectors. The markets of this country should be run on laissez-faire basis of Adam Smith where supply and demand determine prices without government interference and controls, except standards and quality.

THEN STOP LOCAL PRODUCTION because assisting local producers to close the borders for import will only increase cement prices for any local user and voter. So the Minister is 100% right

For once there is price stability for cement which used to be increased on weekly basis. All the local producers are claiming to be upgrading the quality of cement and at the same time reducing or keeping the prices the same. The competition from China has definately been a game changer and I wonder why anyone can be against it. Not withstanding the thousands of job it has sparked in the construction and transport haulage sector.
Well done Mr. Minister.
