Such people live double standards themselves and think everybody should be like them. Priests lead congregations of mixed political leanings, and it is their duty to condemn whatever they see wrong in politicians without fear or favor. Our so-called politicians must know this truth and live with it. Cudos to those priests who are not afraid to speak on issues because that is the only real gospel the people want to hear. Shame to those priests who preach peace and shy away from the single word "justice" because that would be offensive to their pay masters!

In fact he is expected to voice his opinion. Do you want the bishop to wait quietly and receive the remains, God forbid, of his catholic supreme court judges and bury them? There is no restriction under the constitution of Ghana for anybody to be barred from expressing his or her opinion about events going in Ghana. The priests have brains and very educated hence have moral rights as individuals and collectively by the institution they represent to be part of decision making and its implementation in society although not directly. Freedom of expression is for everybody. Who in his or her rightful thinking would suggest the priests to keep silence when mistakes are being done with impunity in the society. The priest may not be actively involved in politics but have moral rights as any ordinary citizen to participate in politics. Are the priests expected to vote? Did they make any impute to the formulating of the constitution of the nation? Do sensible politicians consult the priesthood when necessary? Has the priesthood been involved in Ghanaian politics, with references to Presidents Nkrumah and Acheampong era? I am not a Catholic but I can say the Catholic priesthood can not be bought by any means like trips to Israel etc like other sections of church leadership in Ghana. When the priesthood speaks wise politicians listen. After all when all is done the priesthood will be called upon to bless the nation. Some kids have grown very big mouths but they can not blow the mortar but the flute.
