This is the more reason why the IGP & Co are afraid something like this can happen during the General Elections. Anybody can just post false results or incite voilence by false reporting. By the time we find the truth the damage will be done. Just take the actions of Ken Ageypong or Akua Donkor for instance and how did Ghanaians react to their actions? Not to mention this GBC reaction to a false international issue. So let's advice ourselves to save Ghana.

I agree with you. This recklessness should not be tolerated. Available cheap digital technology has made it possible for people to post all sorts of stuff on social media and some are very dangerous. Some people are not that discerning and believe everything they receive and so forward them to others. We as a people need serious education on the responsible usage of social media else chaos unprecedented await us.

The internet and social media is full of lies, fakes and frauds and one must be careful using these sources for dissemination of news. Shame on GBC. Lazy journalists. Couldn't GBC have contacted S.African High Commission in Ghana or Ministry of Foreign Affairs for confirmation before going on air? Useless journalists with no ethics! This is a monumental shame!

As an authoritative national broadcaster, just a phone call to the South African High Commission which is a stone throw away from GBC could have confirmed the hoax and added a useful comment from the High Commissioner. Elsewhere the Director of News would have been fired. It's a diplomatic embarrassment caused by lazy news editor.
