These people were jailed for four months and asked to pay ten thousand cedis or in default spend additional one month in jail while Kodwo Owusu Afriyie who said similar thing was asked to pay half of that or in default spend six months in jail,he was given option but these people were not given any option,they were sent straight to jail.
All these contempt cases the Supreme Court has been handling are not right,they should have been referring these cases to the lower courts but they chose to be the police,prosecutor,judges and prison guards,it is abuse of power,the court has become a bully which some of us have not realized and begore we get it it will be too late.

This gesture surprised some of the NPP lawyers present. Secondly it was Dr Kwabena Adjei then NDC national chairman who led the pack to collect contributions from his colleagues to pay the fine. PC Appiah Ofori contributed when he realised the embarrassment the gesture of the NDC will cause the NPP. Please confirm this from any any person who was in the court room that day and the time this action took place. Let Sir John and Hon PC Appiah confirm or deny this claim by Madam Anita De Sosoo. Though an NPP member, I was dumbfounded by the actions of fellow-feeling by Lawyer Tsikata and the NDC members at the time they were in a legal battle with the NPP without seeing Sir John as an enemy.

What the lady is missing in this case is a criminal case where one says something criminal although they have not committed the crime. It is sad for mother Ghana when you have people in authority who open their mouth just to talk from their back side like this so called council of state member. Which of them is an executive member? And mind you, it was your rented papers who reported Sir John to the Supreme Court and 2nly Sir John never threatened anybody but these guys threatened. A party that believes in the rule of law will never encourage people who disrespect our judicial system. NPP can never be part of this, when these guys were insulting our flagbearer from 1pm-10pm none stop and nobody advised them to stop. I'm not going to beat you when you offend me , but I will never come to your rescue when somebody is beating you. NPP would have been the most stupid party if they have asked for leniency for these guys. Who cares if even they were given 6years? Next time they will respect elders. If it were to be Asiedu Nketiah or even you our executives and even sympathizers would have come in, but for these guys who think insulting elders is the way forward, will never be tolerated by anyone. In the court room that day, the gesture of Lawyer Tsikata and the NDC surprised many. Lawyer Tsikata joined Ayikoi Otoo to plead for Sir John. Furthermore Dr Kwabena Adjei then NDC national chairman led a pack of NDC members present to contribute to raise money to pay the fine. Hon PC Appiah Ofori contributed when he realised the embarrassment the gesture of the NDC members will cause the NPP. This gesture by the NDC even surprised some of the NPP lawyers present. This was an act of fellow-feeling by the NDC even at the time they were in a legal battle with the NPP and never saw Sir John as a sworn enemy an act the NPP doesn't necessarily has to reciprocate.
