This practice of working part-time elsewhere after one's full time job is happening in all professions in Ghana, from doctors to soldiers and police who have to earn extra income to combat the untold hardships in Ghana. As a matter of fact this also happens in the USA and many advanced nations, though under different circumstances. Prof. Dede might have a point but I doubt if this call would be taken seriously.

Many of these individuals, because of sheer greed, stretch themselves thin; holding positions as regular panelists on various Radio/TV stations; moonlighting at so-called think-tanks to churn out bogus reports; clamour to attend various international conferences, for sake of the almighty per diem; solicit work from private overseas agencies/bodies, while their regular teaching and research jobs are neglected, and students made to suffer needlessly!
Meanwhile, there exists an army of unemployed grads, many of whom could be re-trained to take over many of these part-time or adjunct positions, in the various colleges that keep popping up all over the country.
If you care to find out, those 'double-dippers' you make reference to are the very pople ho suffer early and severe burn-outs; many simply drop dead!
My buddy Kofi Dede is right, in calling for a ban this naked greed. Those interested in becoming free-lancers, should give up their regular jobs, and become political pudits or commentators, shuttling between diffderent media outfits!

Do you guys have any research to back such nonsense? Pay your Lecturers well and there won't be any reason to teach part-time at any Institution in Ghana.
