Some Ghanaians have bought into the lie that Ghana is the most peaceful country in sub-Saharan Africa. if you are one of those people please rid your mind of that nonsense. Ghana is no different from Ivory Coast, Kenya, Burundi, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Liberia and all these African countries. The fact is nearly every African country was artificially created by the Europeans. Tribes that have absolutely nothing in common have been together to form a country. It will take us decades to get a semblance of what a Ghanaian identity is.

Every election becomes an ordeal because there is accusation and counter accusation of rigging. Why are political parties so eager to capture political power in Ghana? It is because when a political party becomes the ruling party; all the resources of the state belong to the elite of that political party. In that period they can steal the resources of the state with impunity.

There are no institutions to monitor the looting of the state's resources. The judiciary is not independent. Apart from being corrupt, judges are also cowards because they always go for expediency in their verdicts. They are not guided by justice but how not step on the toes of the ruling government.

Policemen stand at the roadside openly collecting bribes from motorist. What is the function of IGP? How many times has a policeman been arrested and prosecutored for collecting bribes? recently many judges were caught on camera collecting bribes. What role did the IGP play in the investigation? Zero. Couldn’t the IGP independently bring charges against those judges? That would have been the steps taken by the head of law enforcement in any civilized country.

Politicians believe that violence and intimidation is an important tool in the electoral process in Ghana because no one will ever go to jail for using violence in election. Whatever happens before, during, and immediately after election irrelevant because in the end end there will be peace until elections come around in another four year cycle. Politicians who believe in violence often think that when elections are rigged, there will be minor protest with few injuries and one or two death. But after this short period of unease calmness and peace will follow because religious leaders and respectable citizens will call for peace.
But this gamble has been going on since 1992. Ghana may be on the brink. Evry election since 1992 has been rigged. Why can’ we have transparent election, where the loser readily concedes? It is because Afari Gyan never respected the people of Ghana. This man is the most incompetent public official since Ghana’s independence. To him everything was about Ghana’s electoral process was right. He has left a legacy of chaos and distrust. This man has come to believe that no matter how egregious the evidence of rigging, once the results are declared by the electoral commissioner Ghanaians will accept in the name of peace.
Peace should not come at the expense of transparent election. Why should people waste their time and money and participate in a process where a fair outcome is not guaranteed.? In a third world country like Ghana it is incredible that that no politician has ever been jailed for illegally trying to influence the outcome of an election.

If we see ourselves as having a common human heritage and believe that we can live for each other then there will be peace.

Let us refuse to do the dirty job for any politician whether in NDC or NPP, PNC, CPP.

My current worry is the posture of NPP that everyone is out there to rob them of electoral victory bothers my mind. Neither, NDC nor NPP, the EC nor SC can choose for us who our president should be. We Ghanaians will choose and we will be vigilant to ensure that.

"Reports indicate that chaos broke out when the NDC party in the constituency accused a pro-NPP group named ‘Bawumia Youth for Change’ of a deliberate plan to disrupt an event they held.

Supporters of the two parties reportedly attacked each other violently with stones and clubs and sharp objects after the NDC allegedly attempted to prevent the NPP from using a particular route.

Police officials told Ultimate News the NDC party was outdooring a youth group while the NPP having a campaign launch.

The sources added the NPP youth were jubilating on streets amidst chanting and blowing shofars.

Some NDC supporters who felt the NPP was destructing their event confronted them in a bid to prevent them from using a particular street where their programme was being held, but emotions went high and fight broke out.

One person identified as an activist of the NPP suffered a knife injury and is currently being treated at Walewale government hospital."
