I made a comment here the last time about that,that is a common practice in these airports that people are picked up and ask one or two questions and let go if there is nothing suspicious,flight arriving from crime infested countries such as Ghana,Nigeria and few others always have some of the passengers randomly stopped and questioned,it is not called arrest.
It is only a fool who will spent three hours waiting in the airport to see if somebody who was stopped by the security officers will show up in baggage claim when you don't know the final destination of that person,only a lunatic will think every passenger on a BA flight is going to London,I can't imagine that some NPP people are so narrow minded and dumb like that.

I remember visiting Montreal, Canada in the summer 1998.On my arrival, I was singled out amongst almost all the other passengers arriving from Paris. I was held for almost 45 minutes and security even threatened keeping me for the next 2 days hoping the boss would return to work to decide my fate. They refused to search my bag and my body for no apparent reason.Since I had a french passport, I decided to call the French Embassy to intervene. In less than 5 minutes, I was released. Can I say here that I had no issues with the Airport security? I later learned that I was detained for security reasons for a Ghanaian had been busted with cocaine a week earlier and the fact that I could express myself fluently in english and in french gave them a reason to suspect I could be a potential criminal.
Allotey can be said the to have had an issue and the fact that he says he had no issue at all is weird and like my friend said, the truth is yet to resurface......TIME WILL TELL

Now, if a Ghanaian was busted a week ago hence making Ghanaians a subject of interest, why then the detention of a fellow Ghana who has nothing suspicious on him the subsequent week down the line? Yes, they have every reason to be extra vigilance over all Ghanaian or anybody coming through from West Africa, but detaining the innocent amongst them for apparently no reason is simply a “zippo.”

The idiots forget that if Allotey Jacobs was arrested he would have missed his flight,it seems they don't even know what arrest is in the western world.

There is another below who claims to be a baggage handler in Europe asking me if I have ever passed through customs or work at airport when he doesn't even know me,
I passed through Hearthrow many times going through customs many times and was once randomly stopped there but didn't spend even five minutes with them,not even a question only my carry on was searched and let go.
The one you responded to talks as if he is the only Frech passport holder who speaks fluent English to have passed through that airport.

What they don't know is that passengers flights from Ghana and Nigeria and few other crime infested countries go through this random search or questioning in many major European airports including Amsterdam,Frankfurt and Hearthrow.

Granted you didn't have any issue, why do you assumed that Allotey Jacobs had an issue? Were he travelling on a diplomatic passport, no one would have picked him up. Having said that, is Allotey Jacobs such a celebrity that the immigration staff knew him instantly? Those making noise had not travelled before into a foreign country on a foreign passport. If you arrived in foreign country with foreign passport, the probability that you would be pulled up for questioning is 50%. If Allotey Jacobs indeed had issues, what made you think that he would be allowed to continue his journey? He would definitely had been arrested and even be deported.

Even a lunatic will not spend 3 hours in airport waiting to see if the person he was not travelling with,didn't know where he was going will show up in baggage claim otherwise he is arrested,even in our tiny Kotoka people transit let alone one of the largest airports with one of the largest international travelers.

Come on Corney,Do you really live in the UK and has passed through Immigration & Customs.If you are on International transit at the same airport you dont pass through either immigration or custom.The only time you go through Immigration is when you have to go to another airport to board another plane to your next destination.example: If you arrive at Gatwick & you have to go to Heathrow to board another plane then you will have to get out of the airport and take a bus to Heathrow.Your luggage wont come off at Gatwick so you dont need to bother yourself.It is normally checked to yourfinal destination ( USA ).So the honourable MP should tell us if Allotey made this transit through different airports in UK before flying to the US.

The security officials who are always there to meet Accra flight are always on the jet bridge if you know what that is,they are not at immigration heck point.
Let me tell you that I have passed through both Hearthrow and Gatwick many times and have been to London,stop displaying your ignorance,not every passenger's bags are checked to their final destinations for you to generalized it,staff travelers on BA flights are always required to pass through immigration then to baggage claim to claim their bags and check it again to the final destination or next destination unlike Lufthansa that checks the bags through,get lost,you are talking to the wrong person when it comes to aviation and airport security, I travel a lot unlike you who I believe from your writing travel once in blue moon.

Clearly, video clips on their activities (the latest ones being the Kawo Kudi and Odododiodoo sessions in Accra) are heart-warming. Others are on course in other parts of the country. It's good and highly commendable on the side of the British immigration officers because Ghanaian politicians are no saints. If not most, some of them are equally engaged in the drug trade and ought to be scruitnized or watched carefully when they arrive at these foreign airports.

I was in a que at the Minneapolis/St. Paul (USA) airport waiting to be checked in. Suddenly, a security officer walked up to me from nowhere and said " Sir, you are a person of interest, please follow me". I had a cart loaded with bags and I had to push to a designated area where the contents of my bags were emptied and each item scanned for any sign of radiation materail. After about 30 - 45 min, they repacked my bag for me with no apolgy. So in this context, will I be considered as having been arrested?

They can do it to anyone since no one is above the law. This is the difference between our airport and international airports. No one care about who you are. The can stop n search or question anyone on any issue including even the type of food stuff in your bag or cash or terrorist related issues etc etc. This is not an arrest please. We are all Ghanaians and let's stop washing our dirty linings in pupils cos we are all Ghanaians and we will be labelled as such just like the Nigerians.

Chef, there is a reason some people are picked to be interrogated at airports. There is nothing like randomly picked and I will be back to expatiate on this point but back with Allotey issue, the truth is not being told here. The person who gave that information to Adoryeh said four security people came to the plane to remove Allottey for questioning. Allortey said initially that nothing like that happened but now we are being told something happened.

First, how did this Naomoley know the other guy waited three hours at the airport without seeing Allortey at the arrival hall?

Some of us have travelled from USA to Ghana on British Airways and from Ghana to USA. If Allortey made a transit at London on his way to USA and he was picked and questioned and was not seen at the arrival hall or at the hall where people on transit wait for their next flight, that shows that Allortey was held at Immigration or Customs and was not released to wait at the hall like the rest of the people on transit but detained at the Security post for some reason and put on the next flight to Dallas, Texas USA.

The story of the guy who reported Allortey arrest or being removed from the plane is now coming out to be true.

Now about being randomly picked to be searched or interrogated. It is not random at all according to somebody I know who is a high ranking security official at an international airport in USA.

1. People are picked because a prior information about that person has been given to officials about that person carrying drugs or something he shouldn't have on him.

2. There are some names on all airports due to security reasons whose names have been put on security alert watch list.

3. The way you behave when you are in the plane plays a part for you being flagged whether you will be picked to be searched or interrogated when you get off from the airport. Example of behavior like going to the rest room a lot or refusing to eat or drink during a long flight.

4. You are likely to be picked for searching or being interrogated if you changed your flight date or how you fill the forms given to you inside the plane including the currency declaration forms. If you have too much money usually over $10,000, you are likely to be picked for further interrogation.

5. The way you behave when you are in line to go through immigration and custom or how you answer basic questions initially at immigration. If you seem evasive with simple questions or you try to avoid eye contact with the person questioning you.

The idea of being randomly picked is a mirage. There is always a reason you are picked for interrogation.

Let me further tell you that immigration staff PICK travellers at random and question/seach them.

When they do that to you, it does not mean that you have done anything wrong. They are SIMPLY doing what they are supposed to do: PICK PEOPLE AT RANDOM for interrogation and leave them, if you observe they are not comitting any crime.

They will interrogate and arrest you straight, if they have some tip that you are doing some evil thing and they find that it is true.

I have flown between continental Europe and UK several times and I can say that altogether I have been interrogated 5 times, even though I hold an European passport.

If Allotey Jacobs had commited any crime, they would not have left after the interrogation. He would have been ARRESTED.

This summation is typical of NDC and inconsistent statements. First, transit travelers do not go through immigration or security (TSA) again unless they exit the airport and reenter. Secondly, airport security would not come into an aircraft unless they have credible and probable cause to do so. So if AJ was interrogated, it could not be harmless questions. Interrogation by security forces, is interrogation and for being escorted from the plane, you cannot tell us they were harmless. How could your assessment even be true when the British Ambassador in Ghana said nothing of that sort happened? So who is telling the truth? You or the Ambassador? NDC, you can fool some of us sometimes but you cannot fool all of us all the time. AJ lied to us that he was never stopped in London until a passenger in the flight challenged the account now you give us this tale. Guys, we may be slow but not stupid. Propaganda does not pay. This is a normal procedure at big airports especially if a passenger is not lucky and been randomly selected for searching and interrogation. It happened to my brother in the same airport some couple of years ago. The common question the security usually ask is "did you pack your luggage by yourself or somebody did for you". The latter answer triggers a search and farther questioning.
