No one is frustrated. rather some of you folks who just follow blindly. The factory is commissioned Yes but there is no raw materials. TRUE OR FALSE. The central regional minister says the factory will be closed down for some months for maintenance. So why go ahead and commission something that is not ready to be used.

AND take note that the factory is located near the sea and failure to use it regularly will have its consequence. Lets leave politics aside and reason a bit

The NPP never wants to see any progress in Ghana. What evidence does the NPP possess to suggest that there will be no raw materials to feed the sugar factory? The NPP revamped some of the factories that were allowed to lie idle for decades after the fall of the CPP government, and the NPP does not consider that act to have been done for to acquire votes. Had the Mahama government not done anything to bring the sugar cane factory back to life, these same NPP crybabies would have been louder with their cries about the government not doing anything to revamp idle factories. The NPP's motto has become, "if you can't find anything wrong with government projects, still go ahead and start a campaign of deception against the government".

The furore in the aftermath of the commissioning of the revamped Kommenda sugar factory is, to say the least, very regrettable. The factory is not for the ruling government; it is a national asset. The government should rather be applauded for resurrecting the factory to create opportunities for individuals and group to cultivate raw material to feed the factory. This factory will add value to sugarcane in producing sugar, alcohol, ethanol and spirit for local consumption and export. Hopefully local sources would be enough for the factory otherwise it would not be out of place to use external sources. Shea butter and cocoa butter leave our shores to be turned in valuable cosmetics abroad. This is just mentioning a few. Some positive narrations on how to ensure that this asset endures would be more desirable.

There are a lot of land in the Komenda and Elmina areas that used to grow the sugar cane so it's just a matter of making sure that such lands have not been used for other purposes during the closure of the factory in 1980s. The other factor is, to use the sea to transport harvested sugar cane in the coastal areas. This method will provide jobs to the fishermen during the lean and off seasons of fishing. We did this task during Nkrumah's time on lime products from Aseibu and its surroundings. A ship can anchor in Komenda and boats can offload the canes. It's cheaper these days for local boats of fiber versus wooden boats back then.

Whether or not the Komenda sugar factory was commissioned for votes, it is called the power of the incumbency. The president has the purse strings and can use it anyhow he please for political gain. The NPP will not hesitate to do the same thing given the opportunity. They sound like crybabies with their incessant criticism of the president.
