There is no law in Ghana that bars any bank (including UBA) or an individual from buying government of Ghana T-bills. Anyone who deposits hie or her money with a bank can hardly tell what the bank does with the money but we all know that there money is not left in the bank's vaults to gather dust. It is invested to make profit for the bank and its stakeholders.
The Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF) has its account with the UBA, not with the ADB, so if the GIIF puts its money into its account at the UBA, the UBA is at liberty to investment that money how it deem fit and make profit for all its stakeholders. And one other thing that we forget about is that when a bank banks profit in Ghana, they pay tax to government. Is that a bad thing for our economy?
If the state banks want to remain relevant in today's marketplace, they must innovate and be efficient and compete with the rest of the banks.
Again, the NPP yahoos must either shut the fuck up or go to court and make their case. Propaganda and Patapaa will not win them the elections. Sadly, the armchair politicians are not even campaigning, they as broke as a church mouse. Today's church mice are even richer than the NPP.

We Ghanaians are very stupid and foolish indeed. We're all writing and condemning the govt. over $250 million taken out of $1 billion euro bon deposit, for whatever purpose, I don't know and don't support it. What bothers me most is our stupid and foolish fretting over this $250 million. If we all can go back to Feb. 1st. 2015 of this same website and under the business section---Ghana earns $1 billion from oil sales, it is seen that the Tullow oil company lifted an equivalent of $250 billion in oil from the Jubilee fields within 3 years of it's operations, of which an insulting $1 billion was giving to Ghana, strangely everybody is(was) silent on this very important issue but rather concentrating our energy on smaller amount. What's wrong with us Ghanaians, it's 'okay' for private company to take away $249 billion and everything wrong about $250 million or may be millions is of greater value than billions. $50 billion out of this money would have paid Ghana's external/internal debts outright
and Ghana would be on it's way to economic prosperity and development yet $250 million is more important than billions and I believe the company is still carting billions of dollars in oil away----we have brains which is only good womanizing. From the very top to the very low of all Ghanaians, we are more than stupid and foolish indeed! Most people would say it's the way the contract was written, the contract is not cast in concrete, re-negotiate and if the company says no let them go; it's about time we faced the govt., we are tired of this vicious cycle of poverty with no end in sight. All the politicians/business tycoons are sending their children to the best schools abroad and the same govt. can't afford pencils and chalks in the classrooms; nurses, teachers and other govt. employees not being paid or not receiving their salaries/wages on time- Ghana after Nkrumah is a mockery and circus, just like the animal farm/kingdom!

The Ghanaian banks will not give bribes and kick backs. But Nigerian banks will give kick backs. You put 250 million and get 22 percent. Meanwhile the current rate is 25 percent. What happened to the 3 percent?
