All over the world the period students stay in school is being reduced. Younger persons are becoming smarter doing better these days in most civilized countries. If it is duration that boosts performance, then let the students stay in school for 5 or 6 years so they can all perform wonders. The 3 year duration is the norm all over West Africa, Africa, and in most civilized and progressive countries all over the world for that matter. Are we that dumb that we cannot do it? And what at all does that blending mean? I think there must be other compelling factors which our lazy professors must sit up and identify for us to address. As for the issue of leakages, it was worse in the 1970s through to the 1990s during the O and A level days. We were in school those days and the so called super schools always had appor, super mock and all the spoonfeeding and cheating schemes. The only difference now is because social media has changed the land scape, making more visible, and thus exposing the cancker. Ask all those professors, if only they have the fear of God in them and will be sincere, whether most of them never got appor. Please spare us the constant unproductive noise!!!

Professor Yankah who was a Professor when I was in college provided no details of his "blend". It is a good topic to talk about. Here is what you do in a 4 year system that reduces stress and allows Professor Yankah's "flyers" to fly and at the same time lets the slow walkers take their time and also graduate: you encourage the "flyers" to take Advanced Placement courses that enable them to get college credit whilst in High school. It also helps those wanting to go into the sciences where a lot of prerequisites are needed, to clear those prerequisites faster. I can provide details if needed. Thanks. Long Live Ghana!!

This matter by Professor Yankah is like saying that because a woman is tall she can deliver a child after nine months, thus the shorter woman should be forced to deliver after twelve months. So imagine if this suggestion is to be put into practice. A child from the village school will be told to spend 4years in the classroom and a child from the city will be told to spend three years in the classroom. Thus it will also mean that if the two are to go to seek employment the one from the city will be on probation for 6 months and the one from the village 1 year. A parent in the village who is poor will be forced to pay school fees for four years, while those in the city will pay three years school fees. I hope they are even going to suggest that people from some regions in Ghana should be paid less than their counterparts from others. There should not be an apartheid policy in education.

It's clear that JJ was trying to copy the USA educational system where elementary school is 6 years, middle school(JSS in Ghana) is 3years), high school(SSS in Ghana)and 4 years of Coolege/University. USA which has all the better resources for education, maintains this system while Ghana with mediocre educational reosurces slashed the duration by one year. How can a developing country students spend less duration in school than those in the developed world? This is the reasoin we have a lot of so-called graduates around who don't know anything. They can't speak any meaningful English Language, neither can they display any speck of emotional intelligence. An O level drop out is better than a University graduate under the SSS program. Just get a high schhol student in USA or UK to debate with these SSS- Univeristy graduates and judge for yourself. It will soon come to a time when the developed world will no longer accept our students in their Universities simply because they are half baked educationally. Also because they are aware of our cheating in exams (apor)so don't trust us. Tweaaaaaaaa!

lt could be four years generally with an allowance for common entrance system into the world of work and higher education. This will enable smart students write earlier than the four years. It could potentially make students ambitious if they want to complete school early. The current three years is skewed only to fast learners but disadvantageous to slow learners. Lets create the balance.
How can you blend these two streams? We either go with 3 or with 4, not both.
