Folks, I acknowledge such topics as discussed in this Article is not the usual appealing type that we rush to submit our opinions on. But given the enormity of the import of the core subject matter which concerns our sheer existential freedom, all such is the topic all Ghanaians MUST offer some opinions on, in one way or another.
I, for one, have chosen to offer my unadulterated support for FSG, at this point. I have come to believe that until we have a solidly and most patriotically designed Bill to protect our Food sources, now and for posterity, the Parliament MUST not dabble in any deals to sign off our rights to Food Security to any foreign entity.
From Companies like Monsanto, DuPont, Syngenta, Cargill to Bayer, we face the grim threat of losing our Food Sovereignty to outside profiteering Firms. Our Farmers could lose their rights to plant our native crops after we have allowed these Companies to modify them in one way or another.
Besides, in spite of current sensitivities to Global Human Rights, the more we allow our control over our Food Sources to be sold off to the highest bidder, the more we endanger our sheer existential freedom in the future. No one knows what the Future really holds for us. Already we are fast speeding down the slope of losing our Forest Tree Species. For the very first time in our existential history, not just our Country's, we have come to be importing Wood from outside our borders for almost every item that requires reasonable quality Wood. That is an indictment of the reckless management and dissipation of Resources our generation we should be ashamed of.
We cannot afford to sit by to let that attitude be extended to our sources of Food.
