Ghana is paying six times its total oil revenue as interest on the country’s total public debt stock; that’s the computation done by former Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

“We’ll reach GHC99billion by the end of this year 2015,” the Running Mate to the Flagbearer of the biggest opposition Party said in a post-budget presentation interview with Richard Sky of Citi FM.

“The interest on this debt alone is going to be six times Ghana’s oil revenue,” Dr Bawumia said.

“When we found oil, we were happy that we found oil, but the borrowing of this Government has compromised the whole oil discovery; you need six times our oil revenue just to pay interest on the debt, not even capital, so, it is a really sad development,” he complained.

Indeed, if even Ghana's constitution never required our chiefs to desist from from partisan politics, common sense, which of course, is not common with parochial people, should teach our chiefs that, as people presiding over communities made up of people with diverse interest groups, to be circumspect or cautious in their public utterances.

No wonder and am not at all surprised that the Kumahuhene is an acting chief. Very seldom would a substantive chief make such an wise statements knowing very well that not all members of his community belong to the same political party.

Let our chiefs know that one statement can portray one to be wise, and equally indicate that he is simply carrying a pig head.

A word to the wise is enough.

Hurling insults at Nana Nana Asiedu Agyeman III won't change the fact that he spoke the truth. I will urge you to learn to appreciate dissenting views because the works being done by the NDC in Kwahu are in the ful glare of the public such as the Kotoso water project, Kumawu water projects, three Community SHS facilities, Atibie-Nkawkaw road among others.
These are projects are in the interest of the people and you cannot discount the fact that they are a necessity. Thus, the least you can do is commend the NDC gov't and urge others who have ambitions of leading this country some day to do same.

Kwuhu may be self sufficient in your estimation but Gov't equally has a role to play in nation building. Thus Nana Asiedu Agyeman III only highlighted some of the key projects such as New Abetifi Hospital which when completed will serve the health needs of the people, the Atibie-Nkawkaw road which will help facilitate trade in the area and neighbouring towns among others. In effect, we must move away from the politics of insults and only learn to give credit when it is due.

On a more serious note, I believe we can now conclude that the hypocrisy of the NPP and its cronies has no end. When President Mahama and Asantehene danced to "y3n tie obiaa" in kumasi, the NPP cronies were the same people who said he [Asantehene]has sold his conscience. Yet today, here you are hailing the Asantehene once more. What a shame. Hmmm...... The NPP is in a more confused state than I expected.

Boot licking chief,Dr Kwame Nkrumah gained independence for Ghana and started developing Ghana and it has since continued through other leaders,is the chief saying that the framers of our constitution did not know that when a president is voted out project ll not continue and they allotted four years each for elections to take place?if that's the case,then no president should be voted out even after 8 years because there's no way he can finish projects started by him.If that chief respects the constitution he wouldn't say what he said,the same constitution debarred him from making partisan statements,now that sections of his people re calling him to retract means he has reduced his respect among them,he's an unpopular chief who just want recognition,he may be hungry too but you eat with two hands.

In effect, the change Ghanaians want to see is already happening under President Mahama. He has ended the shift system in our basic schools, ended the energy crisis within the space of one year and is currently distributing the wealth of this country equitably.
NPP will definitely remain in opposition since Ghanaians can attest to the fact that the NPP is in no position to lead this country. their party is in disarray because of the factions. If Nana Addo cannot unite his own party people, how can he even think about leading Ghana?
