Yes the is long over due, but should be a progressive law; a law that deals with the menace created by the production and consumption of the product.
The should be simple: Add additional tax on plastic products,
2. Use the revenue from the tax to pay for the purchase of a mega plastic recycling plant.
3.create jobs for the people to go round collecting these plastics and selling it to the plant company.
4. The plant company recycles the plastics and sells it back to manufacture companies.
5. Finito... everybody wins, jobs created, the little guys make money, and the cities are clean.
Can someone think right like me. Should it even take that long to figure this out.
Do the sector ministers have a plan,
Do they project their plan to parliament during vetting before being approved for the post they occupy?
Does parliament even know what to do.
I mean is the country under a spell or something because the solutions to our problems is right infront us..... beats me.

For business and job creation purposes, in a poor country, like Ghana, making laws to regulate the production of any industrial product, especially, plastics, is unnecessary. The answer to the overly regulation of industry and economic growth, is the enforcement of the existing waste disposal laws, and education of the same. The production of plastics in Ghana is about 0.005% of the production of plastics in the United States of America. However, you do not see plastic waste flying around in the US, like you see in Ghana. The budget of waste disposal management, lines up the pocket of Ghanaian officials, because they think that the solution is the occasional issue of official Ministerial warnings, like the above, from Ayariga. Our government officials do not know that someone's trash, is another person's (Gov't) gold mine. With this attitude, how do you grow the economy, and create jobs and livelihood? With official like Ayariga, the people of Ghana needs help from above. God bless our homeland Ghana!

They are only good at looting the country's resources.

LOOK AT THE LIST OF RICHEST IN GHANA IN 2013 AND MAJORITY OF POLITICIANS ARE ON THE LIST NO WONDER THEY REFUSE TO DECLARE THEIR ASSETS AS MANDATED BY THE CONSTITUTIONAL LAW. HYPOCRITES!

Talk about the real issues about the suffering of the Ghanaian people and how to deliver on that, and not like the ndc who come to power to steal money so they can bribe to win the next election instead of dealing with economic issues that affect Ghanaians.
