What you are suggesting is a way of looking at the best way to democracy. What we have at the moment is another way which Ghana has chosen through our constitution. If it is not broken, don't fix it.

When we wanted people to draft the 1992 constitution, the NPP (being masters of boycott) boycotted the process.

Unworkable? Ungovernable? We are where we are because of NPP lies and foolishness. You want the country to ignore its minorities. You have the mind and mentality of Sarfo Marfo.

Why not suggest electoral college system. The NDC won in 8 of the 10 regions. In such situations, the people would be best represented.

Before this useless MP went to parliament didnt he know what parliament does. Parliment is there to make and charge the Laws, if he thinks is wrong it is the public he should be telling.
It is the member of votes NPP gets, it is that NPP takes useless people to stand to be MPs. We only want one winner and the winner is the one who won on the day.
Accra should have more MPs because it has more voters. NO we elect by area not the number of people.

else one day as funny as it may sound. a candidate may win two or a region n may become the president of Ghana.
n in my view that will not b a fair representation.

If the MP thinks a majority popular vote count should determine the number of seats in parliament then why not require of every member of parliament to run nationwide elections instead of the current district and regional contest? Would a nation-wide election not really give meaning to majority popular vote? Is the number of parliamentary seat per region not based on population?

So if we add all the votes garnered by the representatives and use that to determine which party is the majority, what happens to the individual candidates who won in their constituencies? Which of them would be told to go back home? You see, when all that NPP proposes is to give themselves an advantage, they open themselves for scorn? We have small and large constituencies, and they all carry one vote each. The US big as it is has one vote at the General Assembly just as Ghana. Get that into your head that we have a representative system, not an absolute one. The same warped thinking influenced one the grounds of the NPP SC petition. That when you add up the votes garnered by NPP MP in parliament, they exceed what was garnered by the NDC MPs so Nana Addo ought to be declared president. The NPP chose conveniently to forget that we had places where Mahama got more votes than individual NDC MPs, we also had skirt and blouse voting etc. So you don't just add up the total votes of your MPs in parliament and say your presidential candidate has won. That is being disingenuous. Agyakwa must get an education before he pollutes the minds of NPP foot soldiers further.

Agyarko is attempting to infuse voodoo politics into Parliament. The current system works fine. NPP merely wants to find a way to hold onto to some power, even when it fails to command a majority of seats. Next, the NPP will ask that the country do away with the practice of "one person, one vote". And this is the party that cries about Ghana being taken back into the dark days.
