Where was the AU when Col Ghaddafy killed Libyans and fellow Africans at will? Where was the AU when Charles Taylor, Gbagbo and other African tyrants committed serious violations against their populations? The AU is a toothless bulldog. It cannot be trusted to take action against any of its sitting Presidents. After all they form a clique to protect themselves. When the ICC issued an international warrant of arrest against Bashir Al Assad of Sudan for crimes against humanity, the South African Govt refused to take action and allowed the guy to fly back to his country. Who said the ICC is targeting only African countries? Well it is also in Africa that we have ethnic cleansing, and extermination by its leaders. So John Mahama must be congratulated for braking ranks with these African despots. The IC should be empowered to pursue them every where. The impunity must stop. Has the AU been able to stop these sit tight presidents from making themselves presidents for life? All over Africa, the leaders are changing their constitutions to remain in power, and the AU is silent. Infact the AU cannot be trusted to hold any African leader responsible for his actions. The ICC must continue to 'witch hun't them if that would prevent the genocides and war crimes they commit to perpetuate their rule.
