Ghana should be exporting Chocolate Chocolate and Chocolate only. Exporting Cocoa beans make no sense.

Nigeria did something a while back which has transformed their economy and country." They stopped the incessant talking and actually started doing". Their habit of wildly exaggerated claims to greatness and delusions of grandeur has been replaced with hard work and clear eyed pragmatism. They have organized their manufacturing and agricultural sectors not only to compliment each other and provide for their national consumption but also provide for disorganized economies like ours.So these days small and medium sized businesses are springing up like mushrooms in Nigeria and these are largely financed by the private financial sectors(all legal loans to businesses are insured and underwritten by their gov't). This is an approach which worked for Brazil, Malaysia,S.Korea,Japan,Germany,USA among other serious minded countries. We are tired of the campaign promises and lip services.Dr.Spio must understand that if he is not part of the solution then he is part of the problem.

Even arch capitalist America provides GUARANTEED low interest business loans through Banks at decent 4-5% or less interest now to Small and Medium Businesses.
Why do our leaders and Ministers keep preaching and not act!
IN Ghana interest rates at BAnks are 29% or higher and not enough money and hence needs to grease somebody's palm if you even get it; and those who get it don't pay back because they are all connected to government.
Lets have house numbering and street addresses and personal ID numbers so Banks can reduce their risks and know where people live so if they don't pay they can track them down.
SIMPLE THINGS every sensible person should know Ghanaian elected officials find it hard to implement!
Why? Why? Why?
SPIO! DO SOMETHING BEFORE YOU DIE!! (As some coup leader was once applauded)

If exporting were as easy as importing, Ghana could have been an export state. Whereas the importer waits for the goods in country and can even reject it when it arrives, the exporter has to have a product, make the product acceptable to an importer somewhere in the world at a particular time, send to the importer at a particular price, at a particular place, at a particular quality, and get paid for in forex so that the item would not be classified as smuggle. We talk too much history.

I was talking the minister of trade and industry developing policies that will help industrialists add value to our exports. I wasn't talking about the basics of international trade or the basic of international marketing that i studied when i was 9 years. I was expecting someone to counter this with an existing government policy not exactly what my 7 year old daughter was teaching me yesterday.

It is ridiculous for this minister to think that he can cheat my father to win favour of his friends. If we are looking for money this time it is not going to be on the back of our poor farmers. The processors should be prepared to offer a competitive price. When we export we want to make more money. Then, why process it if you can get more money even if not processed.
Mr. Minister your argument is incorrect. If we are exporting the processed good we are expected to make more money. Foolish minister.

where are these so called processing companies. what products are they making, what is the capacity of each of them

Mr. Minister you can never export processed products without expanding the primary production base. Support cashewprocessors to set up nucleus farms with double the output the requite per annnum. That is the way to offer processors support that increase their clntrol over the quality, price and supply of RCN,, and it doesnt hurt any farmer or exporter. To ensure price stability get the excess RCN produced by the processors into a bulk storage warehousing receipt system that enables the cashew board recover the funding granted.
