We need a totally revamped Parliament and a clean set of Presidential candidates to nudge our Nation back on track of true Democracy.

Our current crop of Politicians in both the Legislature and Executive are relics of the old tainted block of corrupt elites. They couple the rotten Judiciary to complement the ring of incorrigibly corrupt leaders. And unless we do well to break the ring, and find others who would be incorruptible, our Nation would continue to suffer for a long time.

I strongly believe that if could have a no-nonsense Parliament that could truly balance the Executive and Judiciary, or an Executive Head who could command enough charisma to organize the masses to vote out the group of massively corrupt Parliamentarians, we could make a dent in Corruption immediately.

Right now, the Police are largely in cahoot with the most part of the Judiciary to enable them withstand the Public outcry against their corruption, while our Executive may be only partially in unison with the moral majority.

So, it is like chasing a mouse in a labyrinth of tunnels. Just as you thought you got it cornered for elimination, it escapes through yet another exit you hardly knew existed or could not block effectively.

So, we owe it ourselves to begin now to re-educate ourselves to reject Corruption from the standpoint of being the giver, mostly, and our children in Schools to be more averse to the crime. Then, we would have to encourage each other to reject the corrupt Parliamentarians no matter what their Political Parties are.

Therefore, it is abnormal to say one cant trust the police force. The police has been in existence from Dr Nkrumah regime till date and they are still protecting Ghana.

We need to put our feet down and let the Laws of the Land work for all, no matter who breaks them.

It is due to the fact that Corruption of our Judiciary has seen a long acculturation into our System that we do not see any blatant infringement of our Laws by certain folks duly prosecuted and the guilty punished.

The higher-ups and Law Enforcement Agents, Judges etc., have, for a long time, been doing as they please. They have been manipulating our Laws and Cases to enrich themselves at our expense.

I bet Woyome might have been let go by Judge Ajet Nassam in exchange of some share in the booty. The now exposed corrupt Judge has the audacity to sue the State for catching him red-handed in the Anas Bribery scandal. How dare he! But such is one more example of how some have hijacked our Judiciary for their personal gain, and to the detriment of all others.

Therefore, we must boldly support the CID Officer and demand the prompt, merciless prosecution of Commander Cantona, so long as the evidence convicts the latter.

If our moral majority do not begin to vociferously demand that our authorities be firm in implementing our Laws to the full, exempting no one, we would soon be left with an empty country drifting in endless space of depravity and chaos.

It is on the same note that I would wish to see the abrogation or discontinuation of the Immunity for our Presidents. We allowed that clause in our Constitution in 1992 for a specific reason to curtail cyclical vengeful Coups with tribal or ideological motivations.

But we must move on, having atoned enough for our past mistakes. The various Coup-makers and their collaborators since 1966 may have passed on, or still live to enjoy their emotional and physical booty in peace. We can let the Law keep protecting them but only for crimes they might have committed in that chaotic era of Coups. Not beyond.

A time-line ought to be drawn to set boundaries and re-activate the principle of equality before the Law in Ghana. In that case, not even the President could pooh-pooh our Laws, or manipulate the Judiciary to keep him or her out of jail if found guilty of any crime. Without that remediation in our system, our Democracy would remain only a sham, restricting most of us and allowing others free range to milk and drain the system for their exclusive convenience.

Brazil is fast doing exactly that with the current legal siege of the incumbent Head of State and the former President, Lula. The Chips must be allowed to fall where they may, only guided in flight by the natural dictates of our Laws.
