The sad thing of the matter is even worse than this, maybe they have to hold back for fear of losing their jobs. Ladies and gentlemen of this nation, it is very sad that these underpaid drivers when they go with MP’s or other government al bosses are told to sleep in the cars whilst the later stay’s in the nice hotels. As if that is not bad enough, the bosses then make a fake claim on their hotel bills.

Ghanaians are spoiled. Suddenly everyone is making demands. Our MPs, like them or not, must be too busy and important to worry about a disgruntled driver.

These people are not demanding money from parliament,they are asking them to find a place for them to sit while their bosses are at work,it is inhuman to leave these people out of the cars they drive and not be allowed to have a place to sit leaving them at the mercy of the weather,nobody will be happy with that treatment.
The MPs should come together to find a solution to this issue,it is not fair to treat people that way,they chose to employ them and must treat them like humans,if they cannot treat them like humans then they should drive their own cars,as law makers they should be fighting for the people not maltreating the people.

Why do we keep these stupid colonial practices. The only politicians who need drivers are the president and the vice president.

Joe, you put it damn right: It was "the colonial masters who needed that service." And, here are some more of those stupid freebies for the do-nothing MPs and other government officials:
The colonial masters used the following recruiting carrots(incentives) to get workers from Europe to go down to Africa (the Dark Continent) to work some 70 years ago:
(1) Free housing/bungalows (because they were coming to work for a short time and return);
(2) Free cars & paid drivers (because they didn't know the roads in the country and streets in the towns;
(3) Paid garden boys (because Mr. BOBO—the White man—didn't know how to use the machete (kotokro) to cut a flower or anything;
(4) Paid cooks (because they had no idea of how to cook African food/s—with kontomire & snails); and
(5) They set the retirement age at 60 years, because of two reasons: (a) they didn’t want the white wo/men to “DIE and be buried in AFRICA”, but to work for a few years and go back to Europe to die there and (b) Life expectancy was very low then (people didn’t live that long in those days, like today), so 60 years was very ideal. Right now, WE MUST SET IT TO 70+ and keep good teachers, doctors, etc.
Then came “Kwame Patapaa” (Dr. Kwame Nkrumah), who eventually kicked their collective BUTT, as way back as 1957, but guess what? The damn NEGRO doesn’t seem to understand this after some 60 long years, because s/he is enjoying those colonial legacies—then you ask WHY IS THE COUNTRY SO POOR & NEEDY IN EVERYTHING—wasting too much money on many do-nothing fools!!
In America (the super-rich USA), drivers are not provided to their Congressmen & women (they drive themselves); no free housing (and even the current Speaker, Paul Ryan, has been sleeping in his office for the past 12 years. There are about 13 other Congressmen who also sleep in their offices—although a Congressman’s annual salary is about $175,000 plus some other allowances for being on committees, travel, per diem, etc.
So, let Ghanaians TAP on the shoulders of our politicians and whisper into their LARGE ears and say “Hi, Negro, Mr. BOBO is long gone and it’s high time you do away with these STUPID freebies, which are bankrupting the nation”—AND DO YOU GET IT NOW??
