Avram Grant rubbishes calls for special dispensation

Ghana coach Avram Grant has rubbished calls for players in the local league to be given quotas into the Black Stars insisting players must earn their call-ups into the national team.

Pundits have called for several players from the local league to be included in the Black Stars even if it means they will only sit on the bench.

With the local league on a high following interesting matches and highly talented players the clamour for quotas into the national team for players in the Ghana Premier League is growing even higher.

Grant is on the verge of releasing his squad for the back-to-back 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Mozambique this month and is expected by these pundits that the Israeli will name several players from the local league.

However the coach insists players must be given the chance to play in the senior national team solely because of their talent and not where they ply their trade.

“I like the league very much but I must say when I come to the Black Stars every Ghanaian around the world is Ghanaian," Avram Grant told the media.

“I don’t divide them from local, Asia , Europe or Africa.

“Everybody has a chance. We are following everybody. We have some assistant who follows everybody.

“Everybody who will be good and show ambition and desire to be in the Black Stars will have a chance.”

Ghana are currently in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and they are the overwhelming favourites.
