  Well, it was done recently in Akropong-Akwapim and no one protested. The loud-mouthed human rights champions did not see that as illegal and infringement on the rights of people for schools and other places to be closed down because of a stinking corpse. It is an Akan thing so it is okay and acceptable. When Gas placed ban on noise-making in Ga-Mashie during the period leading to Homowo, we had people mostly Akans protesting and threatening the peace to defy the ban.

  Bantama stool was created by Osei Tutu I for his best friend Amankatia.Bantama has no queen mother like other kingdoms and as such who to be the occupant of Bantama stool is not determined by a queen but rather by otumfour with the help of the Gyaase chiefs in Bantama.For your answer to why it is not maternal as others,to the best of my knowledge,it was Otumfour Osei Tutu,the creater of Bantama stool who made it like that.Because that position needs someone who is brave,and there is a believe that,braveness can be inherited from
  father to son.Also with my own assumption Amankwatia was Otumfour Osei Tutu's friend from Denkyira who accompanied him to Awukugua in Akuapem with Okumfo Anokye,then to Kumasi to succeed his uncle as Kumasihene and later made his friend Amankwatia his 2nd in command and warlord. During all this time nothing was mentioned as Amankwatia's sister,so for someone to succeed Amankwatia it must be automatically his son.
