Yes, a ship cannot be washed ashore. It can be listing, floundering and run aground as Abena pointed out. All that is shipwreck, where the ship beaches or drifts onto the rocks and is grounded.

1. Some secret troops trying to overthrow Mahama or Gnanssigbe or both.
2. The Germans trying to re-take their Togoland (the current Togo and Volta Region).
3. Someone trying to smuggle contraband into either or both countries - arms and munitions, illegal drugs.
4. Some country trying to dump the wreck, full of chemical waste, in West African waters.
5. A ship full of spying gadgetry to scan Ghana and Togo.
6. A deliberate prop by Ghana or Togo's leaders to distract us while they steal ships, cocoa, oil or some other stuff over the high seas.
7. International terrorists scouting possible boat-landing strips.
If neither Government is involved, they should cooperate and send their navies and air forces to blow up the ship to see what's going on.
Personally, I suspect there are, at least, some remotely-controlled devices in there, installed and sent by people who are up to no good.

There is nothing they could have done except to allow it to settle and be salvaged. There is one such ship at Prampram about a few months ago, it is being dismantled piece by piece, because the owners are hit with a penalty for any debris left along the beach and also time schedule to clear the wreck. Anyway, none of us knows the facts surrounding this wreck, so comment intelligently, or let us know if you joking or clowning, something which can be found in the Ghanaian gene!

Buccaneers or sea pirates are always the prime suspects in circumstances when vessels are attacked on high seas but with new tactics been adapted by the various terrorists groups, one cannot rule out terrorism in the case of the drifting ship which finally ended up at Aflao. On every ship in the world is a particular country,s registered flag so tracing the origin of this vessel is not a difficult task. The Ghana Navy,s Rapid Response Unit need to act fast to search for the missing crew on board this vessel. They could be alive sailing on their life saving boats but are many nautical miles away to the coast.
It is a big shame to note that our territorial waters are not been taken guarded by the Ghana Navy. The Somalian terrorist group called Al Shabab are capable of attacking this vessel because they are professionals in such operations. I don,t even think our Navy are equipped with the modern marine gadgets to receive distress calls in situations like whatever happened to this vessel.Every ship captain and his chief mate will definitely use the "MAYDAY DISTRESS" call in time of trouble. The Tema Naval Base should be held responsible for this regrettable negligence of duty since Aflao is within their jurisdiction.
