Gentlemen, I don't accept this type of policy. So what are the sub commanders doing at their various stations. They are there to represent the IGP and help solve all challenges to include family ones on his behalf. That is why they were trained as officers. Please IGP delegate powers for you will be tired and the same young ones will mock at you. They should learn how to meet challenges and overcome them. That should be the mark of an officer. You don't need to get to IGP to be seen seeing to the challenges of the force.

Former, You may be right but most of these commanders have failed to live up to expectations, and remember that the IGP has ever been a commander before and knows what he is doing.

Bismark, I support you perfectly. This is a laudable policy. I know policemen who have written petitions on one issue or the other, over centuries now and nothing is heard from the top, though their petitions have genuine concerns. I hope with this policy, the lengthy bureaucracy associated with dealing with serious complains, and not flimsy ones, would be dealt with expeditiously. Lets give it a trial. Some Regional Commanders also have rooms to listen to their subordinates; why can't the IGP, the father of the service, himself do the same ? I would also say BRAVO

So an individual can just encourage subordinates to jump the chain of command like this? This will breed indiscipline. Igp, rethink this idea.

Military standards are different. Never compare the two. Soldiers are soldiers. Their style of doing things is documented the world over.

Much as I laud this bold initiative, I wish to caution the IGP to thread very very carefully along this path, lest he creates mistrust among the officer rank. How would he hear personal complaints from other ranks outside Accra for instance? Would he be holding hearing sessions in the regions or he would encourage individual police men to leave their duty schedules and troop to Accra to brief the IGP of 'the mistreatment' of their commanders? I am afraid this would become a tool for encouraging other ranks to hold their commanders to ransom to avoid being put on some assignments. Knowing the level of insurbordination that exist in the service, this would become a veritable tool in the hands of junior ranks. In any case, a laid down mechanism exist for junior officers to complain against tyrant, overbearing and capricious commanders. All the IGP needs to do is enforce this provision. Lets it backfires in his face.

Do you want the aggrieved junior to report the conduct to his same senior man who is the actor ? Be a bit sensible.

This might be a "LIE' or "SCAM". I'm of the opinion that he has some officers who he wants to "redeem" from a low profile. God save Ghana.

Where delegation fails personal intervention should be applied . Delegation does not mean lack of supervision over the delegates. Good job keep it up.
