It is better to have equal known membership of each Party on the Committee and have them swear an oath to do only what the Committee is expected to do in the best interest of the Nation than to have some others on the Committee whose political background or affiliation may be obscure but secretly harbor some fondness for a particular Party.

I wonder if anyone assigned to the Committee is now thought to have no Partisan affiliation but ends up ruling on some incident in a blatantly bias way against, or in favor of, any particular Party, the other Parties would simply ignore it.

We may therefore be dwelling too much on the outward perception and assumptions of what the members might do, instead of demanding from each member a binding pledge to perform with god-fearing adherence to the regulations involved.

I would rather prefer dealing with an enemy I know than an assumed well-wisher I don't know in such circumstances.

Whom do we cast our votes for? Is it not for a political party? Being a card carrying member or a member of a political party is neither here nor there. The bottom line is that at the end of the day we cast out votes to a political party; where our votes go, is where we belong. Once you voted for that party, until you vote again changing the direction of the vote, believe me, you are part of that party.

We don't meddle in political activities; neither do we accept or hold political office. When Jesus was on earth, he never endorsed the Roman authorities. Rather he honored his civic duties by paying tax ( which is also a civic duty in Ghana). He always recommended God's kingdom and his entire message on earth was about that Government (Matthew 6:33).Read Romans 13:1-7 and you'll fully understand the Bible's viewpoint on submitting to authorities as Christians.

Sometimes we need to give the benefit of doubt to others we know have different viewpoints from ours. Such is the situation of the EC-created Committee to oversee the security of the pending General Elections.

The Committee membership could have as well been selected out of members of all Political Parties. In that case, we would know every political interest is represented on it.

The expectation that we could have an absolute neutral Committee, the members of whom would each be perfectly non-partisan or apolitical is totally unattainable. Even if all the members could be vetted to proof none has any recorded or established ties with any one Party, there could be someone who might have a secret fondness with a Party, and would not disclose it.

So, the wisest thing to do is have all the Parties represented on the Committee in the same numbers and set strict and definitive guidelines for their duties. In that case, when anything happens that needs be assessed by the Committee, it would be handled strictly according to the dictates of the mandate or guidelines.

So, now that George Sarpong has been found out to be a staunch NPP member, what are the NPP objectionists of Mr. Arhin going to do? I hope they would be equally hard on the EC to get rid of him from that Committee. And, since each of these exposed members did not volunteer to own up their partisan affiliation, who knows who else on that Committee would be exposed next by someone else and when that would happen?

The point is that it does not matter what Partisan affiliation any of the members has, so long as they have integrity to honor the code of performance on the Committee. And if these folks cherish their reputation and mean well for the country, their duty on the Committee is the kind that calls them to look beyond their respective Parties to do the right thing.

The EC would not abrogate its obligations to be dictated to, I hope. Just as the NPP fears anyone on the Committee with some connection to NDC would not be fair, so do I believe the NDC also thinks NPP affiliated members might not be fair. NDC would not allow NPP to dictate who should be on the Committee. And vice versa. So, if the NPP or any other Opposition cannot trust the EC to do what it is supposed to do, then, I am sorry, that is our luck. The EC might have known these members on the Committee to have exhibited some REASONABLE level of integrity that it felt they could be trusted. Now, NPP objects to Mr. Arhin. So, the NDC would also object to Mr. Sarpong. Who else could we say is/are of higher integrity and needs to be retained on the Committee?

Nonsense as usual from G.K Berko. The EC has been caught trying to form a committee with mostly known NFC members, at least three known so far, Arhin, Azumah and Wittal when the committee was supposed to have neutral members.

The EC was caught also lying when it said those members were selected by NSS, Peace Council and others after a letters have been sent to them to nominate a member to the committee.

The NSS and Peace Council have come out to deny that no letters from EC came to them and they did not nominate those individuals to the committee. Common sense shows that the EC intentionally selected those members whether NDC or NPP so why is the EC lying?

Fortunately the EC has been caught in lies and has abandoned or dissolved that committee.

Ghanaians are just demanding fair elections so that whoever loses will peacefully accept the voters wishes. We don't need a EC that seems to favor one party over others.

This is not too much to ask for.

I wish there were no such Committee at all. But if there were ever any such need in the minds of others, I would prefer allowing each stake-holder Institution choose its own representative to sit on that Committee. In the worst case scenario as this, where the EC may have to select the Committee members, integrity is the key to accepting them for that mission.

My reference to integrity in my preceding comment on the topic was to underline that particular attribute in our Politics that we have failed to appreciate enough, and has therefore been lacking. An effort to bring it back into the system would entail publicly assigning individuals of Publicly known partisan affiliations to be part of a National consensus to perform with that attribute.

Sorry, folks like 'JUSTICE' SARPONG cannot grasp the subtleties of cogent narratives. They ought to learn harder and faster, I believe, to be any constructive in their contributions to our National discourse.
