Statistics from the Second Ghana Poverty Mapping report show that Upper West Region is the poorest followed by the Upper East, Northern and the Volta region.
The report indicates that these regions are faced with low educational levels, high unemployment and are below the poverty incidence of GH¢1,314.00 per annum.

Around 2 AM the Ghanaian husband got up, went to the kitchen and returned with a sandwich and Akperteshie.

The moral of story is that Kojovi in Togolan's house have nothing.

Scotland recently voted in a referendum to leave the union with the United Kingdom but lost but there was no qualms with that.
If the stated conditions are true, why not? Naturally, rivers are best forms of boundaries. Was the Volta river redirected to form a man made lake? Akosombo as Eastern is only political administrative demarcation. I will be back.

Yes there is sense in Papa HOGBEDETOR's statement but the issue is very complex andwe need to dig well into it before taking any serious decision.If there was a mention of Western and Eastern Togoland in the UN report of the plebliste of May 1956, it was only a geographical definition and had less to do with the existence of States of Western and Eastern Togoland. There was not even proper demarcation at the time. I very well remember that the UN, Britain and France were requested by the UN Under Secretary Mr Roger Donceville to liaise with Dr Nkrumah, Mr Antor Mr Goka etc and chiefs to create bounderies. The British side was represented by the KETA District Commissioner Mr John Miller, and the Coandant des cercle of the LUMEside.There was no MAP. We need now to know why that part of Togoland is now called Volta Region when Volta is,j I believe,owned by Eastern Ghana. Also it is not clear why that portion used to be Trans Volta (now South and North KETU distrcts). This issue seems to be DONE DEAL and consequently there is no need for semi-autonomy or secession.JJ Rawlings had ruled Ghana for 20 years and will not be willing to be President of Western Togoland. We should see the UN document before further comments.

JJ Rawligns, and now John Mahama, two sons of the TransVolta Togoland have become presidents of the Republic of Ghana. So what is the point? The people of Western Togo have not been discriminated against by Ghana. Cameroon and Namibia also suffered similar fate, but the French and English parts of the country are living together as one nation. Some injustice was done by the British, but History ha shown that this arrangement has benefitted both sides. In addition, the people of the North would never vote to return to Togo and be treated as strangers. While it is necessary to remind all Ghanaians that Northerners and Ewes are not aliens. So all that negative propaganda by a section of the people especially NPP must remember that you cannot call someone an alien while you are standing on stolen land.

I greatly support this move by the Volta Region because they have suffered many shortages in terms of development in infrasture and more. The Central Government's mismanagements cannot support any social growth and therefore the call for the region to demand such autonomy is reasonable. They have the elites who can manaage and turn the region into a paradise in the West Africa South Saharan belt. If Every Region were to have such semi-autonomies, it would help Ghana to grow at a Faster Rate.

The issue of statehood for the Volta Region, is something that I have favored, for a long time understanding what took place before 1956, and the Germans gave up this territory and the British and the French agreed to split the Transvolta Togo Land in to two parts.
What I suggest without being labeled a tribal instigator is to meet with the Ghana Government and Demand unconditionally autonomy. After all, the Ghana Government stopped regional Development in the Volta Region after Osagyfo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah was overthrown. It is obvious that all the Development programs for the regions went to Ashanti Region only, as though, the Ashanti Region is the only region the needs Development. Even to the point that the Ashanti Region want all the Development, but no other Region is important in Ghana. In this case, there is nothing to analyze, therefore, Volta Region and parts of Upper East and Northern Regions be returned. This can be done without bloodshed. I am sure that this issue is very important for the whole Volta part of the Upper East and the Northern Regions.
Those who lives in the Volta and part of the Eastern and the Northern Regions will tell you the lack of Government Development. No clean Drinking Water, let a lone good feeder roads to the Regions, then what fo you call this. The earlier the better for Ghana and the Volta, part of the Upper East and the Northern Regions to workout a solution yo avert unnecessary conflict in the near future. People in the Volta Region are demanding a split. I hope that it will be done well without political conflict. This my point.
