Indigenes of Central Region fascinate me. I am not trying to insult anybody here, but I don't get it why is it that most Fantis have Eurocentric first and last names?
As far as I can remember, with the exception of Arkaa almost every Fanti in the political or entertainment limelight has this questionable Eurocentric surnames to go with their first names.
Examples abound: Joe deGraft Johnson in the 2nd republic. Evans Atta Mills, Amissah-Arthur, Kwesi Ratt, sorry, Pratt, Ben Ephson, Arthur Kennedy, Ivor Greenstreet, Paintstil, Crentsil etc. For some of them, but for their middle names, you can't differentiate them from Americo-Liberians or Sierra Leoneans.
Some Fantis go as far as to "brofolize" or anglicize their last names like Essel for Asare, Koomson for Kumi, Killson for Koomson, Mends for Mensah, Laastson for Kaakyire, Folson for Ofori, etc. These things belie inferiority complex or colonial brainwash. Every educated Fanti man craves to be a white Englishman. Their craziness is on the same emotional scale as skin bleaching and wigs wearing African women. Are you jokers? Get real people, there is no respect for any people who let go of their own culture and cling to somebody's culture.
On another note I think it is the same nonsense with our northern Muslim brothers and sisters. They too have lost their names before contact with the Islamists. The phenomenon has become so entrenched we have taken their names as Ghanaian when in fact they are Arabo-Islamic names. Where are your identities people? Emancipate yourselves from this mental slavery. Stop being fools and drifting race or tribe. You are so insecure and unsure of yourselves you will jump on any stupid religion and ideology that washes ashore. Why?

THE FIRST FANTE OBRONI WHO WENT TO LONDON FROM THE GOLD COAST LET THEM DOWN.
Born in Cape Coast and named Kweku, he was said to be the son of Birempong Cudjo. In 1754, Kweku was one of three Fante children taken to England for education by a missionary from the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel.
Of the three children, Thomas Cobbers died in 1758, while William Cudjoe suffered a mental breakdown and died in 1766. Kweku fared better. The two brothers were baptised at St Mary's Church, Islington on 7 January 1759, which they had attended for four years.[1] Kweku took the name Philip. In London, he studied theology and in 1765 was ordained in the Church of England. Phillip Quaque was the first African to be ordained as a minister of the Church of England.[1] The same year, he married Catherine Blunt, an English woman, and the two returned to Cape Coast the following year.
The Royal African Company employed Quaque as the chaplain at Cape Coast Castle. He set up a small school in his own house, "especially for the training of Mulatto children who were growing in large numbers",[2] and attempted to work as a missionary, but having forgotten most of his native tongue, Fante, he was unable to make any conversions and experienced difficulty connecting with the natives. He married twice more, these times to African women, and in 1784 sent his two children for education in London.
The Letters of Philip Quaque[edit]
Quaque wrote a series of letters to the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel, London from 1765 to 1811 telling of his successes, trials, and hardships during his time at Cape Coast Castle. These letters also depict a colorful and insightful image of life on the West African coast during his time there, such as the workings African politics and territorial and trade relations. He tells of a number of things including the large amount of deaths of Europeans shortly after their arrival, including the death of his first wife in 1766. Most of his letters speak mainly of his baptisms, paying special attention to those that included “others,” or non-mulatto children. Though his school was initially “for the instruction of mulatto children only of both sexes,” Quaque did eventually begin taking in African children. This did not, however, negate his disapproval of many aspects of their (and technically his) culture, including their language (which he used to speak), their religion, and their communalist practices.
Through his letters, particularly the one dated 1767, we get a thorough sense of the difficulty of Quaque's job as a missionary and how it conflicted with the traditionally polytheistic society he was living in. Also very telling through his letters is the influence of the endeavors of European nations to gain control, or at least an advantage, along the coast. In his letter dated July 30, 1775, he mentions the resulting bloodshed of a conflict, which he later mediated, between the local Dutch allies and his own townspeople. Such conflicts, as well as competition with the slave trade and the American Revolution, play a large role in the number of factors behind Quaque's supposedly limited success. Yet for these reasons, many grant Quaque glory for the number of baptisms he was able to perform, as well as the fact that he consistently stayed in touch with the Society over the course of several decades, even into his state of illness, despite the London headquarters only sending him 3 letters in response during his entire time stationed there.
Quaque received much criticism from both sides. In one of his letters he speaks of the harsh discrimination by Africans towards Europeans, and expresses that he himself even experiences it, regardless of his African descent. On the European side, he was criticized for becoming too involved in the coastal society, largely in part due to his marriages to local women, and the interpretation of his letters to not have been dissociated from his own culture.[3]

Ivor Greenstreet said directly to President John Mahama and Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur that: “You don’t care”.
“Nobody is feeling your better Ghana”,
In the full glare of the President, Vice President, former President Jerry Rawlings, and thousands of leaders and supporters of the NDC, a defiant Greenstreet said: “…Currently nobody, I mean nobody is feeling your better Ghana.”
“Continuous ‘dumsor dumsor,’ corruption from top to bottom, left right inside out, and all the challenges you are facing [are] suffocating the Ghanaian people.”
He added: “We would have thought that perhaps you may have used an occasion like this to discuss policies, programmes and solutions to all the difficulties we are facing as a nation, but no, you chose today to share your Christmas gifts with each other.”
“Ghanaians are not happy at all. This ‘bronya’ is dry. Too too dry,” he told the President, adding: “The most painful thing of all is that you don’t care.”
“NDC continue, we are watching you, Ghana is watching you, do what you want to do, we also know what we’ll come and do…make sure you’ll elect executives who will be able to steer your parties affairs when you are in opposition. Boys abr3.”

But my beef is while they make themselves laughing stock in the eyes of whites, they drag me along as a Ghanaian and African. Just imagine being in the room with white colleagues at work watching CNN when Obama visited Ghana. For a while they were incredulously bemused by John Evans Atta Mills - black like you and I, standing besides half-white Barack Hussain Obama. Looking at their names as it crawled below the newsfeed, it appeared Obama was more African than John Evans Atta Mills. I had a hard time explaining to them how a black African, born and raised in Black Africa, Ghana, could be sporting such a house-slave name. Mills in their eyes was Uncle Tom, when they die they wished they went to a white heaven. A man who loses his culture is a ship that has cast afloat at sea without any bearings.

It would appear that those in control of the NDC, for the time being, were bent on excluding other bona fide members of the Party who may wish to lay democratic claims to who becomes the next flag bearer of the Party by excluding them even before the mortal remains of the demised President were interred. It is also symptomatic of how political party elites in Ghana and Africa worm their way into the confidences of persons perceived as likely to ascend to power positions for purposes of eventual personal economic gain at the expense of the generality of the mass of Party members and the Nation which every President swears to serve under the Constitution

If the CPP had a party base like the NDC or NPP, John Mahama will have zero chance of holding onto power. The NPP and their supporters are stongly behind Nana Addo, that is 49% of the votes solid for NPP. Now the NDC with the ill performing young corrupt president can only hope to do as well as Atta Mills did in the 2008 election at a 47%. With a strong CPP party that percentage could reduce drastically.
A round off could be between NPP and NDC or a shocker will be CPP and NPP.

The victory of Ivor Greenstreet will hurt NDC in that NDC was not a political party. In Ghana we had UP and CPP. Majority of members of NDC are made up of CPP members who did not join forces with NPP which is the offspring of UP. With the victory of Greenstreet if the CPP are able to bring their members who deserted them to join NDC, then NDC will be in big trouble, and that will see the end of NDC as a party. As far as I am concerned, NDC is on their way out since all the deserted members of CPP who are in NDC will return to make CPP formidable. NDC, I certainly believe, is out of election 2016.

My observation now is that, if Greenstreet is able to call those who have left to come back, NDC will be in trouble. Of course, not all of them would like to come back but I believe majority of them will. On Samia and Akosa, I believe it is politics as usual when you lose, you make comments one way or the other. At the end of the day, they will support Ivor and the good news for CPP is that, Abu Sakara Forster will be coming back to CPP since Ivor has extended his hands already to those who left to come back. On Blay, he is seated and rooted in NPP and there is no turning back. Look out for CPP in 2016, they will make a difference.

Who built the Nkrumah Musoluem? NPP attempted to wipe out Flagstaff House by building a presidential palace at the very spot and renamed it Jubilee House. The university in Kumasi got back its original name Kwame Nkrumah Univ of Science and Technology. NDC pushed for Nkrumah's recognition at AU to the extent that his huge statue now stands in Addis, something some "against" people were not happy about.
To me CPP as a party is a spent force. I don't see it conquering NDC and NPP. Under the circumstances, it sounds prudent for CPP, PNC, PPP and all anti-UP parties to join forces with NDC and keep Nkrumah's ideology alive.

You remember Greenstreet who gave a solidarity speech from CPP at the NDC convention at the Kumasi Stadium some time last year or so. He spoke a lot against NDC in the presence of their leaders including JJ when eventually Sam George classifying him that he is shortsighted to see the development projects of NDC; which was interpreted by many commentators as making fun of Greenstreet's disability. This did not go well with majority of CPP and other well meaning Ghanaians, so there is no way that CPP with Greenstreet as their presidential candidate will join forces with NDC. NDC cannot preserve Nkrumah's ideas because NDC does not represent CPP. I believe November elections will be very interesting and NDC should watch out not NPP because CPP is ready to get back all their members who joined NDC. Time will tell.

In case your empty head does not contain this info, let me tell you that the German Minister of Finance, the mightiest economist in Europe is also disabled and sits in a wheelchair.
Yet he has transformed the entire Europe and is the main breadwinner for most of the poor EU states.
And what Mr Greenstreet and Mr Schauble have in common is that both are qualified lawyers and economists AND were not born disabled but became disbled by accident: Greenstreet through car accident, Mr Schauble through an attack in October 1990.
