It is an extreme insult for Mahama to think that the people of Volta region just need appointment of Prosper Bani and we will vote for him and NDC. Our eyes are now open and we refuse to be the world bank of NDC. Amenfi bye-election has open our eyes that we should not be taken for granted. We want to be the region that forms government based on national development and not a sure banker for NDC. Though we do not like the NPP much, our people were happy and enjoyed the interventions introduced by the party. Life was better under NPP than the current NDC administration. NDC is fooling us and treat us as idiots who will vote for them no matter what. Ghana has moved on and we are also moving on. We the Voltarians want to be like the Western, Central, Northern, and Brong Ahafo regions which always decide which party will form government. Re-appointing Prosper Bani will not improve the lot of the people in Volta region. Please stop insulting our intelligence. WE CANT CONTINUE TO SELL OUR INTELLIGENCE TO SLAVERY OF NDC PARTY.

Any govt or system that refuses to acknowledge or respect the fact that Ghana belongs to the Akans is by the hand of God doomed to fail. This is evident from the bond of !
1844 and agreements of 1871 are they are the basis and our Magna carta. NDC has a foreign oppression govt in which the stakeholders or true intelligentsia of the Akans do not participate or are excluded but rather insulted , humiliated and wantonly abused. Like all oppressive govts when they see their days are number switch from their pro islamic affinities and all of a sudden remember the America are allies of brothers like we witnessed with Qaddafi, Saddam Hussein and the eastern European criminal regimes of Ceausescu in Romania. Today we have a govt in which the cardinal inner cabinet ministers such as interior , defense , finance are all non Akans . This ndc promotes the exultation of minorities and preys on the divide and rule tactics that lead only to the death of our economy. Its very interesting the posture of this ndc mafia, they know they have lost but still clutch to straws of false hope. The world confirms this bloated register , unheard of wanton looting , corruption and hegemony/tribalism of pepeni/ayigbe but they instead of resigning collectively choose to annoy us with more propaganda lies. They waste their money buying millions of bullets and arms but fail to realse even with 500 atomic bombs they will lose as war is about the awareness of the people and state of mind of the defending majority. We salute the chiefs , politicians , bishops who are not afraid to stand up for justice and respect to the market women who reject gifts of treachery. We have won , and the stakeholders of our friendly nations know the truth so we will not waste our time with fake diplomats or those who dont known what time it is. We show thanks to the British and Germans for confirming the bloated register and other atrocities of corruption we witness .

THIS PROPOSAL ARISES AS A RESULT OF POOR WATER PRODUCTION AND DISTRIBUTION DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION IN THE COUNTRY. INSTEAD OF BANNING HIGH RISES, THE COUNTRY MUST OVERHAUL THE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF WATER INFRASTRUCTURE IN THE COUNTRY. IF WE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCT CIVILIZED WATER DISTRIBUTION THIS WILL NOT BE A PROBLEM. LOW RISE BUILDINGS MAKE UTILITIES PROVISION EXPENSIVE. GHANA SHOULD HAVE NEW FIRE CODES AND PROPER COMMUNITY PLANNING. JUST AS YOU HAVE LAWS FOR HUMAN BEHAVIOUR SO MUST THE THE NATION HAVE IMPROVED FIRE CODES AND CIVILISED DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF COMMUNITIES IN GHANA. WE ARE CREATING URBAN SPRAWLS THAT ARE EXPENSIVE TO PROVIDE UTILITIES FOR. IF WE HAVE ADEQUATE FIRE HYDRANTS WITH ADEQUATE PRESSURES IN THEM, HIGH RISES POSE NO PROBLEMS. AS THINGS STAND NOW, YOU CANNOT FIGHT FIRE WITH FIRE TRUCKS. OUR ENGINEERS NEED TO HAVE CODES, STANDARDS AND REGULATIONS FOR FIRE, WATER AND PLUMBING STANDARDS IN GHANA. WE HAVE INHERITED THE PRIMITIVE DESIGN FROM OLD TIMES AND OUR INFRASTRUCTURE MUST IMPROVE OTHERWISE COST OF OUR INFRASTRUCTURE FOR TOWNS AND CITIES WILL GROW. THIS IS NOT HOW IS DONE IN MODERN TIMES. WE ARE DOING THINGS THE WRONG WAY IN GHANA. OUR ENGINEERING EXPERTISE IS POOR SO FAR AS FIRE AND WATER DISTRIBUTION ARE CONCERNED.

What do you expect from a nation which has a person like Akua Donkor as the adviser. Akua Donkor has openly said he advises Mahama and he listens. I am not sure which advisory role she is playing but any role in the absence of more intelligent, competent, learned, more qualified people to give this government an advice has led to the deteriorating condition in Ghana and the nation going backward since Mahama and NDC took over the reigns of government in Ghana. But time will tell.

Justice man, consider the following comment and reflect more soberly on your viewpoints.
To begin with, high-rise buildings should not be taken as an exclusive sign of development. High-rise buildings may at a distance, dazzle the ordinary persons mind but they are actually very complicated and difficult structures to build - and even worse-still, to manage.
In many cases around the world where high-rise buildings exist in abundance, it is usually due to the horizontal lack of space and the dire economic necessity to rather develop vertical structures to accommodate more people in limited spatial environments. High-rise buildings are therefore first and foremost, necessities rather than cultural status symbols or objects of beauty. I must however admit that some countries consider their high-rise buildings - some like the current tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, reaching over 160 floors, as symbols of power and prestige.
High-rise buildings may be safe in relatively developed societies where the complementary infra-structure can be proven to be comprehensively reliable and assured. In Ghana on the other hand, the existence of structures above four floors is not only dangerous, but also depicts how ridiculously foolish we still continue to be as a people.
The justifiable and commendable concerns coming from the Fire Service about their inability to deal with possible fires in high-rise buildings, should in fact be the least of the worries that are related to the phenomenon of high-rise buildings in an underdeveloped but an impetuous society who by all intents and purposes is just trying to ‘keep up with the Joneses’.
Even in Europe where many high-rise buildings were put up a few decades ago for the convenience of their growing urban populations, many of these have had to be pulled down and in their place, buildings which were not too high up in the sky have been built. I suspect that the reasons had something to do with the extremely high cost of servicing and managing high-rise buildings. In Ghana where culturally, we have the unenviable reputation of not being able to maintain even single-storey buildings, I dread what would become of the high-rise buildings which are springing up around the city of Accra in a few years. It is difficult for us to even service and maintain the lifts at the very important Korle Bu hospital where we and our families, friends and fellow-citizens are at our most vulnerable. As a result, our sisters, mothers and wives are often carried piggy-back from floor-to-floor at the point of delivery of our babies. In circumspect, dread to think of how they are going to manage the lifts at mere working places that are 20 floors and more.
In the first place, high-rise buildings can mostly be found in our badly managed capital city of Accra where even common water and electricity are rare commodities in this 21st century. Then again, for anybody who is enlightened enough and who cares to know, Accra sits on a dangerous, and unpredictable earth-quake zone which can rumble at any time - even as we read this comment. This means that, even if in the unlikely circumstances, a developer bothers to acquire a building permit from the corrupt city authorities before they commence putting up such a high-rise project, it is my humble opinion that no building above two-floors can, within such murky circumstances, be considered as safe enough for human habitation in Accra.
Luckily, Ghana is still blessed with abundant land space where we can still continue to develop horizontally and beautifully without the need to tread where we are not yet ready to dare.
Let us put the horror of earth-quakes, building permits and the doubtful technical integrity of multi-floor buildings aside for a moment. I still cannot in all honesty, imagine the consternation and apprehension of the great probability in Ghana, of finding yourself without electric power in the 6th, 10th, 20th, 30th floor and above, in a high-rise office building during the day – never mind late in the day at night when you want to finish off some urgent work. What about the frequent lack of water from the mains? Will one have to carry several ‘Kufuor gallons’ up and down the staircase from the 10th, 20th, 30th floor just to flush toilets and clean the floors? I have had to endure climbing up to the 6th floor of some public institutions in some instance when the lights were off because the lifts – which always break-down anyway, were not working. Having to climb up to the 10th, 20th, 30th floors under such circumstances, would be completely out of the question.
I see many high-rise buildings - over six-floors and more in Accra, that don’t even have as much as sufficient car-parking space for the convenience of the anticipated tenants and their clients/visitors. The lack of this very basic amenity for such structures makes me wonder on the frightening likelihood of what else the consultants, architects and engineers randomly forgot to take into consideration which my eyes cannot readily see.
For those who are ignorantly and disrespectfully asking why the Chief Fire Officer cannot put pressure on govt to fund the acquisition of what would obviously be a very expensive hydraulic fire-fighting system that can deal with fires up to about 45 floors, I appeal to their good senses to come back down to earth to consider the fact that over 60% of Ghanaians living at ground-level do not even have the most basic domestic facility of toilets in their homes. That is rather the compelling reality of the Ghanaian situation. Would it therefore make sense to consider the safety needs of 000.01% of Ghanaians living or working above 20 floors to that of the 20,000,000 Ghanaians who live on ground-zero and who cannot even as much as afford to buy toilet-paper – they use ‘graphic’ – all apologies to the Graphic Communications Group.

I would have expected you'll use the time to appeal to parliament to equip the service with modern gadgets necessary to do your work well and also train your personal to be abreast with modernism. Rather, you using your position to set the country back. I think you deserve to be fired because Im sure you didn't even know what you were saying.
God Bless Ghana.

The issue should not be focused on how tall a building is but how well the government is willing to protect and safe guard the citizen in the country. I will also suggest that GNFS should appeal to the industrial countries, European union and UN to help acquire this equipments if the government of Ghana is unable to acquire them. I hope those in charge of the affairs of Ghana (NDC, NPP, etc) will think about the country and what the country and give them.

All the millions being stolen by corrupt politicians and their cronies can provide these basic requirements for the fire service. Ghana is not a poor country. We have lazy, greedy and pathetic leaders.

It is true GNFS does not have a single hydraulic platform to help them. But I think high-rise buildings could be approved if only designed, constructed and maintained by very competent white companies like Trasacco.

Wonder how you got the job and position in the first place
Is this man serious at all,in this modern age for him to make such proposals, ooohh Ghana soo hydraulic platforms too we can't buy.
GNFS, go get the right equipment. Tell NDC to collect Woyome's money to buy one for each district.
You are incompetent, are you saying you dont have trouble qhen. Fighting fire, instead of appealing for more modern equipment you want then to band a whole project. Shame on you

FIREMAN, what you need are tools for the challenge ahead. Upgrade your equipment and training to meet those demands-- and stop living in the stone age era
