The main point on the analysis which you illiterate failed to grasp is the 52% of the 25 million people as qualified registered voters which the analyst said is over 10% normal in Africa. What that means is that, the average registered voters in Africa is normally 42% of the whole population.

Let's even go with your illiterate logic that the numbers quoted here was after the 2012 elections and some minors in 2012 have become eligible. You are not going to get 1.3 million voters in four years from people who have become eligible. In four years, the voters register should not increase more than 4% using voters data from 1992 to 2008. It was only between 2008 to 2012 that the voters register increased about 10%.

For example, in the Ellembele constituency in Western region, from 2004 to 2008, the voters in this constituency increased by only 500 to 16,000 plus but between 2008 to 2012, the voters register in this constituency increased by a whopping 11,000 to over 27,000 voters which is impossible when no refugee camp or new companies have been opened there to bring new employees from other areas of Ghana.

Afrifa and the Movement for Freedom and Justice. They stood for Ghana when men chickened out. He is a true Ghanaian hero and we must respect him. I love Akuffo Addo. He speaks his mind like Rumsfeld, Dick Cheyenne, George Bush, Donald Trump, additionally, he like Prez Atta Mills and Dr. Kwame Nkrumah do not mince words. Wereko, you are a man who can’t be trusted. You demanded to be paid like expatriate under Rawlings in forex at a time Ghana was reeling in debt with depleted forex reserves. Wereko, Akuffo Addo stands taller than all politicians in Ghana today. Ghana trusts him to do the right thing for us. He will put Ghana first and all others second. Wereko, you have not accounted for the missing GHc400 million at the Ghana at 50 under your stewardship. Akuffo Addo will not sell off Ghana nor steal from the nation. Now are 25 million Ghanaians worth $300 million in exchange for the two Gitmo detainees? The fact that they were not tried in court does not exonerate them from terrorism acts. They were given pardon so to speak by the Obama administration. You can spin it all you want they are bad guys who should not be living in Ghana. Ghana should not support terrorism in any form. A terror in one place is a terror anywhere in the world. See Nigeria, Mali, Burkina Faso and Kenya. Is that what you want for Ghana?
The issue at stake is not sectarian or religious. No Ghanaian has interjected shia, sunni or Ahmeddia sect in the discussions we are having, you did. You are Catholic, so what? It’s purely national security, stability and economic growth versus a misguided co-president who is in his own world thinking he is above the constitution. Executive presidency has its checks and balances; the Legislative arm and the judiciary are there to put checks on the presidency. Mahama has shredded the constitution far too much to be in office. It’s all about him, his friends, families and his northern tribe’s men. This is not the Ghana you and I grew up. We need to speak out before this man sells half the country to foreign interests. When does his nonsense stop if the Bishops do not rise up and challenge his abuse of the constitution if parliament will not act but only ask for prayer against terror?
Ghana needs Nana Akuffo Addo. We wish him God’s speed and good health.

Yes, America is our friend no doubt but asking Obama to consult widely on the issue wouldn't have spoiled anything. The President of Ghana is not a colonial attache' of the US to just take instructions from the US President for implementation in alacrity without being bothered by its consequences. This is most the sensible of all the arguments I have encountered in the Media on the Gitmo 2 crisis in Ghana! Bravo, Tarzan!!

Many, including me, have insisted, since the beginning of the crisis, for our folks to hold back their screams and yells to deeply ponder on the full ramifications of the case, and look beyond the realm of Partisan Politics and Religious sentimentalities into our collective future.

I am glad Tarzan has articulated our views more cogently than any of us has done, thus far. I even kindly offered the Akufo-Addo machine a hint to help keep him unscathed through all the crisis. But as Tarzan noted, the NPP Flagbearer, characteristically, simply followed the mob to set himself up for a difficult relationship with the US Government, should he ever become our next President. He only saw a glimmer of Political expediency to jump on the wagon bashing the incumbent President, and could not resist the temptation. So, now, Akufo-Addo is on record to have unconditionally, and, in fact, unwisely, rejected the Gitmo 2 agreement between the USA and President Mahama's Administration.

His reasons for rejecting the deal would form the basis to denounce any future Executive Action he may have to take on National Security issues; such an issue could be a sensitive Security matter best left to the President and his Cabinet only to decide upon.

Akufo-Addo has shot himself in the foot. He may be hoping that after US President Obama, a fellow repugnantly bigoted Candidate like Trump would win the US Elections and appreciate his dangerous parochial bigoted views like on the Gitmo 2, and also forget any bad feelings the US Authorities may currently have for him on the Gitmo issue.

The Catholic Bishops and the Christian and Pentecostal Councils could not hide their pent-up biases against Muslims, in general, either. What a shame! Their rhetoric and various actions ensuing to stop the Gitmo 2 living among us set a dangerous atmosphere for inter-religious chaos in Ghana, a Nation that has long lived peacefully with diverse Religions, including Muslims.

I would reiterate once more that our Christian-led rejection of the Gitmo 2 would bring us closer to a precipice of retaliation by the sympathizers of the 2 detainees than their sheer presence in Ghana.

Unfortunately, our most likely alternative to President Mahama, Akufo-Addo, has teamed up with the Christian leaders to jeopardize our longstanding cohabitation with Muslims and Christians. Doesn't that speak volumes of the kind of leadership Akufo-Addo has in store for us?

We did not see Akufo-Addo brandish his magical legal wand to bring Justice to the Murder of the Ya Naa and his 40 relatives, even as an Attoney-General of the Nation. We did not see him respond any effectively to the complaints of Fremah Busia that the Security Capo, Francis Poku was embroiled in dubious imports of Drugs and Arms to Ghana.

Then came and went the various Drug incidents that never went anywhere, including one involving Raymond Amankwaah who is believed to be related to Akufo-Addo. Raymond Amankwaah was approved for a Passport during Nana's tenure as the Minister of Foreign Affairs, while Mr. Amankwaah was on Interpol's list of wanted people, and he was later arrested in a Drug deal that traversed Brazil to Germany.

This Akufo-Addo's tainted record of Public Service, plus such foibles of his as this on the Gitmo 2 cast a heavy cloud over Akufo-Addo's judgment and integrity to be Ghana's next President.

Given what I have gleaned off the various opposing views on the Gitmo 2 case, thus far, and what I personally know about the development of the situation, I stand firm beside Tarzan on this.

In fact, I had long arrived at similar conclusions Tarzan arrived at, regarding the position Akufo-Addo took on the issue.

I find Akufo-Addo's position very precarious and untenable, should he ever become the President. He has boxed himself to a corner, so far as his leadership to get Ghana interact best with the USA is concerned.

The questions many have asked, like why the Gitmo 2 had been rejected by Country A or B, and Ghana took them in, and how the two had been reported to have been involved with al-Qaida prior to their detention at Gitmo, and Ghana would accept them, are all weak premises for taking that decision.

I followed closely the trajectory of the Gitmo problems over the years and quite understood how President Obama wanted the Prison closed, and the difficulties associated. So, I had expected that freed detainees would end up all over the place but only in Nations where the USA could keep eye on them for a while, and offer them the chance to relive their freedom.

So, I regard most of the objections as out of sheer unfounded fear, and religious bigotry.

Then, when we come to how the decision Ghana made impacts on our relationship with the USA, and any repercussions for us from any radical Muslims with sympathies for the detainees, I found no grounds to worry, but only possibilities for warmer relations with the USA and gratitude from the Gitmo detainees and their sympathizers.

Therefore, Akufo-Addo made a strategic error of far-reaching import to his future interactions with the USA.

The intrusion of the Christian Institutions into the issue is what should be more worrying to us. The way they went about their plea to reject the detainees amply exude a certain latent bias against Muslims. Period. That is what could set off a harmful reprisals against us, should the Christian Clergies have their way. Even not having their way, the message they left en route in their submissions taints their Christian principle of even-handedness, and betrays Christ's intent for all his followers to be bold in offering help to even outsiders.

Upon these alone, I could comfortably agree with Tarzan.

What many have used to justify their call for rejecting the Gitmo 2 is largely speculative.

I don't want this to be another thesis on Global Politics and Religious diversity. But let me suffice to say that had Akufo-Addo been in Power, he would have done even more in the direction that Mahama has just done with the detainees.

So, if you doubt my judgment, so be it. But you may not have taken into consideration the same factors I used in my assessment.

If after 14 years of detention without charge or trial, America found these 2 and other Gitmo detainees harmless,wouldn't it be more compassionate to grant them American citizenship or a safe haven in America - as compensation for the disruption caused in their lives? Why negotiate with poor, needy countries like Ghana to absorb these "harmless" ex-detainees? Who has better security and financial resources to monitor these detainees, Ghana or the USA? And Dr. Brobbey, why would you think Ghana's relationship with America would sour if we had refused to accept the detainees?

Please come back and tell the nation what benefit Ghana derived or is going to derive from this exercise of "compassion".

What palpable nonsense. The USA would not respect any politician who folded up before US diplomats. The US would rather expect a serious leader to consider what he has been told carefully, consult his party leadership about it, and come to an independent position on the issue in accordance with how they perceive national interests.

The USA must not blackmail Ghana's politicians and Nana Addo has shown muscle and leadership by standing up to the American diplomats. It is primitive of Tarzan and his ilk to think that you are only the friend of someone when you agree with everything the person does -- even when it hurts you or your family.
