Indiscreet and insensitive statements like this by a person who has been appointed to head the EC by a govt whose stay in power was largely determined by either the dishonesty or incompetence of Afari-Gyan, now confirms to all of us that the woman is not impartial.

So far everything that has come out of her mouth over the past few days, shows that she has been put into that position to do a hatchet job for the NDC.

At the very least, even if she is not partisan, this woman is not mature enough to hold such a sensitive public position. She should know that the subject of Afari-Djan raise strong emotions in the public domain and for her to overlook those concerns and to go ahead and publicly praise him simply means that she is either looking for trouble or she is not sensible enough to know what she is doing or where she is at.

I do not hold any political sympathies for the NPP but looking at current developments, I have a deep worry about the future of the country.

Mahatma has demonstrated on several fronts that heshe not equal to the the demands of the job. Only if he had listened to Kuffour and JJ probably would not be in this mess. My fears is that Akuffo Addo with all the supposedly trappings of a president in the making has, unfortunately, projected a character of intolerance,vindictiveness and traits of tribal bigotry at least by his core supporters that may have very serious security implication for Ghana. In all honesty Ghana is painfully at a cross road and to borrow the often quoted phrase, we either go for "incompetence or intolerance".

Secondly, Foreign policy is set by the executive i.e. THE PRESIDENT...there is no pre-defined foreign policy written anywhere that the president has to adhere to. A security expert ought to know this. A president can come in and set a totally different foreign policy agenda than his predecessor or the country has ever seen. That is the sole preserve of the executive.
