All these high salary demands by workers were caused by the government. Mahama is ill advised and will not listen to good ones.
In which part of the world are utilities increased to over 50%? What about fuel increase to over 27% when world prices continue to fall. Some members in government fail to realize that some workers have not been paid for over 12 months and unemployment rate is just too high. A foolish MP had the nerve to tell Ghanaians that those who cannot afford the hike in petroleum products should park their cars. Then, after the fuel and utility prices hikes, they don't want drivers to increase fares. As a results of these stupid decisions MPs took, the price of everything has shot up.
I remember sending a mail to the president that by such increases in price of everything, he is opening the floodgates for workers to also make unreasonable demands and labor unrest. But as usual, Mahama went by his YENTIE OBIARA position. Very soon, he will be forced to listen.
Mahama can be a good man but has surrounded himself with crooks who sing praise songs to him so as to maintain their political positions. Mahama as a historian, I hope knows the strength of the people's power. Recent events at B'Faso should remind him of where he can drag Ghana's democracy to if he continues to listen to those around him and not wisdom.

PURC is supposed to be an independent body; however, anytime it acceded to the legitimate or illegitimate demands of utility providers, the government takes the blame, simply because the utility providers are still quasi-state companies. I blame government for carrying on these two most ineffective companies. To avoid the incessant demands for a pay rise by organised labour due to increases in tariffs, government must wean itself off these two non-productive companies and privatise them. Disband PURC, sell off these companies to the whinging public and let them assume the responsibility of setting their own tariffs. If in future the public disagree with ther level of tariffs, they can then mobilise and vent their frustration on the utility providers.
