Our parliament is really useless,it has been like that forever.
Just imagine Minority always coming out to say government has misled them to approve loans and bills when they are supposed to read and debate before approving or rejecting loans and bills.we don't even need that parliament,it is waste of resources, parliament that approves anything from executive is not parliament,a rubber stamp organization, just a place for people to drive SUVs period.
As for Avedzithe least said about him the better,he is ignorant but arrogant,he does not even know that the reason why many people don't have cars in UK is because they have effective public transport system which Ghana cannot compare itself to.
Such an individual should not be in parliament in the first place with that mouth let alone occupying such a position,it is only in Ghana that he can remain in parliament talking trash to the very people who elected him.anybody in his right mind should know that when you increase fuel prices it affects everything including Trotro which does not run on water,if he was in his right mind thinking right he would have known that the increment will affect public transport too.
In America that guy saying stupid things like that which is not the first time he has said something like that would have been forced to resign to end his political career but in Ghana he will remain parliament as long as he wants and continue to insult the very people who elected him to parliament.
If you want to defend your government you do so with sensible argument but not foolish and senseless argument like that insulting people,if you don't know how to defend your government stop being at radio stations to say things that can tarnish the image of the government,we need smart people to defend the government not dumb people, not people who may have lost their minds.

In my humble estemation, the parliament is too large and we need to tream it down to save cost and make it more effective since no single party can command absolute majority.
On the issue of petrol prices, yes the cost of crude oil has fallen and so too is the strength of our purchasing power. With weak cedi, the govt need more money to pay interest on govt bonds and loans. In short the cost of govt doing business is high.AS if the afforementioned was not enough, the govt have to cough out 80% of its revenue to meet the recurrent budget and also meet our social needs.
AS for Avetzi, apologies can be place on his behalf for poor choice of words. He has rubb salt on to injury in his over zealot attempt to defend the govt.May be he wanted to say that about 85% of pump price in UK is tax so Ghanaians should sympathise with the govt.
Corney, you might have heard some voices at the corridors of power accusing some foreign govts of wanting the down fall of NDC govt.Is precisely because of these painful economic messures which the govt wanted to avoid but was prevented by those foreign powers hence the accusation. These painful economic messures no doubt make the govt of the day unpopular in the eyes of the electorate.

History tells us Hon Hawa Yakubu of blessed memory n independent candidate a loner in the midst NDC MP's was hailed the voice of the voiceless. Most of the current opposition MP's are lawyers and seasoned professionals who can use court actions, media and press conferences to oppose dubious or fraudelent moves by the government. Our opposition MP's must make their presence felt to prove Ghanaians they are ready to take over the reins of government. Even after being rediculed by president Mahama that they are sleeping in parliament they cannot make their presence felt.Action now or never!!

Parliamentary Walk outs have not helped either. Don't blame the Minority. They are powerless in the scheme of things. Tell your buddies to vote wisely next time. As for the North Ketu MP, he can get away with whatever he says 'cos his votes come from Togo where the increased price of petrol does not affect them.

In response to "civil unrest now", I understand your frustration but killing will not solve the problem. I really empathize with you but I do not agree we go the non-conventional way. Ghana has come a long way in terms of peace. Let us maintain it. I also agree the EC does not want to listen to the voice of Ghanaians. Let me give you an analogy. Saddam Hussein was a ruthless Leader. We all thought it wise to kick him off power but what is the story today? Saddam's era was more peaceful than Iraq of today, likewise Qaddafi. The consequence of war will be unbearable to this nation and distasteful. We can still use our thumb power to vote the NDC out. We should ensure an unperturbed vigilance during the election and I believe we can kick them out. I vote based on principles. I pay as much as GHC5000 of tax every month and it is sad to see our politicians riding in big cars with free fuel and they think we should park our cars if we cannot afford fuel.I know of a Minister/MP I left secondary school so many years before he came to the same school. By their salary standard I earn more than he does but I can assure you that if I resign from my job, this guy can pay me without doing anything. You can imagine how these guys are looting the country.I strongly believe these guys have lost already. Including myself, I have so many friends who voted for NDC in 2012 and they are damn thirsty to vote against them come November 7. I regretted big time voting for NDC in 2012. So my friend just exercise patience.

We should take a cue from Iraq, Libya,Syria and such countries and avoid war at all costs but rather vote them out come 07 November 2015. Ghanaians should for once vote on principles and ideologies but not on ethnic lines whilst the ECG should also be fair without any bias whatsoever.

How are you going to win election come November when your party is in total disarray? Have you stopped the civil war in your party?.The acid dousing and catlass wielding fanatics, were you able to contain them?Nope.Do not be carried away by the event of today.
Seriously, how can you win an election with just two regions in your basket out of ten regions. With the civil war going on in your party,I wonder whether Eastern region is still in your sephere of influence. In Ashanti region,Osei Krom boys are seating with anger waiting for their tend to exact a pound of fletch.Does it klick with you that only Osei Krom boys and other minority tribes should face suspension?.After raining insults on other tribes including their chiefs and elders you are still counting on them to vote for you abi? the answer to this question lies in the womb of time.I rest my case.

Our useless parliament got where they are by the persistent indoctrination of the voting public to accept the notion that the classroom educated an credentialed folks have wisdom; you and I know is a faulty equivalence. It is our parliament that enacted our Constitution and passes laws based on tribal and political party loyalties and not love for Ghana. And with political party operatives busy giving away goodies to voters or selling cheap promises to party faithfuls Ghana has lost any sense of right or wrong; we are far too gone.
Most in the NPP will never make a link between a failed government operated public transport system and the Kufour administration because shirking off responsibility is what the NPP and NDC is all about. Kufour purchased all those buses with an intent to run a mass transit system but just like an ignorant power hungry dimwit, Kufour and his men chose to bow to pressure from the private transportation owners just to get their cheap votes and abundand the public transport ideals and idea. We use to have public transport systems in every region operated by government (centralized) during the CPP era and shortly thereafter. But for tribal loyalties and a whole lot stupidity we now have government by the ignorant for the ignorant. Hence we pay parliament to lord over us as we provide them with comforts in life while we tighten our belts.

In most banana republics, including Ghana, parliament is there to rubber stamp what the executive branch asks for. What I find surprising is that Prempeh has now realized that parliament is a do-nothing institution. The parliamentary system is not conducive to vigorous debate to passing laws. The majority party gets to form the government, with the opposition playing a minor role. Given that, there's no way members of the ruling party will deny the government what it demands.
