  Below is the real statement of the head of GRIDCo William Amuna further echoing the power minister Dr. Kwabena Donkor's statement earlier on.
  
  Bulk power distributor Ghana Grid Company (GRIDco) has indicated that the current load shedding has been suspended because power producers are now generating enough power to meet the nation’s demand.
  
  This comes just three days to the end of the year which Power minister Dr Kwabena Donkor promised load shedding would end.
  
  The minister promised he would resign at the end of the year if by January 2016, load shedding was still in place.
  
  With few weeks to the end of the year, the four-year-old power crisis did not appear to be ending despite the promises by the minister
  
  Dr Kwabena Donkor subsequently told Parliament the problem would be over two weeks into the New Year, a statement many critics found as ridiculous.
  
  But it appears the situation is currently under control.
  
  Joy News checks indicate as at Tuesday morning the country is consuming 1,782 megawatts of power which means all the major cities and towns are being supplied enough electricity.
  
  In spite of this revelation, there are some parts of the country which suffer power outages.
  
  Sources in the power sector say such outages are as a result of faulty transformers in the specific areas and not due to lack of power generation.
  
  The ease in the power situation in homes is possible considering that industries which consume high levels of power are offline for the festive season.
  
  The Chief Executive Officer of GRIDCO William Amuna in an interview with JoyNews’ Francis Abban on Multi TV’s news analysis show The Pulse said that enough provision has been made to meet the power demand.
  
  He would not however say that load shedding has come to an end.
  
  "From the 24th of December we have not been shedding load at all. It is possible an area could be off but that may be due to a localised problem.
  
  "We have not been shedding load at all throughout the country. Virtually all the generation plants are operational. We even have one unit which we are not running now in Tema but we still have adequate supply," he said.

  We shouldn't be in the haste to proclaim the end of the load shedding because many industries have closed for the Christmas break. I hope the Power Ministry will not make a u-turn and make excuses next week.

  The arrival of some 2 big power barges in the country is a testimony of the Power Minister's determination to end dumso.On the technical aspect of the energy crisis,we can say dumso is over because we can now produce enough power if we combine all the thermal plants,hydro and solar in the country.The only problem remaining is how to get regular supply of light crude oil or natural gas for the plants to work without hinderance.I don't know what measures govt and the power generation companies have put in place to ensure that there will uninterrupted supply chain of feul for all the thermal plants in the country.I think there must be a way to get gas from the oilfields if we plan well.Happy New Year.

  If we now have 1800 megawatts and the power situation has eased, it is due to businesses that are still closed for the holidays. Wait till the 15th of January when all the businesses are in full swing and then we will see whether load shedding is over.

Kwabena Donkor has joined this group. 2015 is still some 12 hours or so from coming to a close so Donkor still has 12 hours to make good on his assurances. However, I bet that Dr. Donkor has performed a million percent better than that unintelligent philanderer and libertine; the dead-goat, john mahama. In truth, I would not mind voting for the NDC if Dr. Kwabena Donkor was their presidential candidate. He is credible, humble in his submissions and a good listener.
  
  Instead of Dr. Donkor resigning, the thief, john mahama, should rather throw in the towel and vamoose from the political landscape altogether.

  I had rather the President left the Minister alone to continue his work. Although he needed to get his PR right to some degree, the explanation he has given recently on the curtailment of DUMSOR and the possible continuation of power outages due to other unforeseen contingencies, makes a lot of technical sense and he must therefore be allowed to continue his work. DUSMSOR WAS AN INTENSIFIED LOAD SHEDDING DUE TO A SHORT FALL IN POWER SUPPLY and that i belive has been dealt with to a large extent. Occasional power outages due to equipment failure, as he rightly explanained, has been with us for so many years, it traverses governments and that is different from the intensified DUMSOR we experienced the past few years.

  I often do not comment on political issues but with the spiral of arguments out there calling for the immediate firing of the power minister,I'm forced to come out also say this.In my opinion Kwabena Donkor should not be fired but retained to continue the work so far done.Eventhough some people might disagree with me,I want to say emphatically that this Power Minister has performed much better than all the ministers in government and even the president. To me the underlying reason was the promise he made and the fact he was ready to sacrifice his position should he not be able to deliver.It's now self evident that he had solved the power problem by 80% and if he is allowed to stay to continue,he would be able to up it to 90% by the middle of 2016.In this regard,I see that his preparedness to fix the problem is the statement he made to put his job on the line.I therefore call on the government retain him.

  Seriously, how many people in government have set specific goals with time table and made it known to the public and put themselves in a position to be held accountable for meeting or not meeting the goals. It is from this perspective that I believe Dr. Donkor has to be commended if even he did not completely achieve the goal. I hope going forward all ministers and the president set specific goals for themselves and be held accountable for meeting or not meeting these goals.
