Is it wrong for a citizen to record criminal activity?
Amidu, whose bidding are you undertaking by making such as ass of yourself? You can hate NDC for taking your job away, but by all means, stop foaming in the mouth and attacking people who are trying to expose wrong doings in our society.
You are either with us, or you are against us, because Ghanaians stand lock in step with Anas and his crew.

How can Anas investigate people secretly? The tactics used by Anas is inferior and must be condemned to the fullest degree. Why is that not even done to those known political crooks. They are rather taking away chunk of national funds. The President Mahama himself, his brother, and ministers of state putting up fuel dumps and other properties which are evident in our very eyes are not mentioned.
We are not children to fooled. They must all wait and see. posterity will never forgive them.
A like of the Nigerian President will be installed one day to bring all to book.

Amidu must tone it down. We all know there are rotten and corrupt elements in the system. Corruption will destroy Ghana if Ghana does not destroy corruption.
If the constitutional instruments, provisions and institutions designed to guard against corruption were doing the work they were designed to do effectively and efficiently, there wouldn't be any need for Anas and he Martin. But they are not, the whole country is awashed in corruption, from the government down to the legislature and the judiciary, through to the police, chiefs and citizenry, hence the rise of unothodox citizen vigilantes and agencies like Anas and Martin Amidu.
Martin Amidu has not convinced me yet that the people caught in Anas' anti-corruption web tangle, could have been caught and exposed by other means. The system has not been working, corruption has become pervasive and assumed cultural status. I do agree with Martin Amidu to the extent that Anas should not allow himself to be used by the government in a manner that it cannot do so with BNI because of constitutional constraints to witch-hunt other arms of government. So far that appears to be the case, he Anas has not been able to target and expose anybody in government whereas he Amidu has done so e.g. Woyome case. So in a word it is two sides of the same coin.....Amidu through the front door whiles Anas goes through the backdoor to expose corruption. Both use different methods, Amidu's style is always after the fact, investigating documents etc. for traces of corruption, whereas Anas' method is to catch the corruption in vivo or live whilst it is happening. Both are not mutually exclusive except when it comes to who pays whom for what, i.e. commissioned, sponsored, for-profit, purely altruistic or citizen vigilante.
In one sense Martin Amidu is making the case that willingly or unwillingly, unbeknownst to Anas, the government is using him to undermine the separation of powers principle that underpins the constitution. Amidu is making the case that to the extent that Anas himself has admitted that he had collaborated with government in some previous assignments, he Anas has unwittingly allowed himself to be used by the government to target its perceived detractors and opponents, all with the intent to deflect attention from itself. My take is Amidu is on solid grounds here:
a) That Anas is known to the government
b) That the NDC government knows the face of Anas - John Mahama actually undertook a sting operation in the Bole area with Anas, holding Anas' camera, during the time that he Mahama was in parliament as MP for Bole, i.e. during Kufour's era.
c) That because of (a) and (b) above, Anas has not been able to turn his lens on the government thus rendering him compromised or toothless against the John Mahama's government.
For all of the above reasons, Martin Amidu is saying that Mahama is puppeteering Anas to do his dirty job for him.
Amidu is not against the exposure of corruption, he just hates the clandestine association between Mahama and Anas. Anas, if he wants to be taken seriously must cut all links with the government. He must be able to initiate investigations without any winks and prompts from the government - commissioned or not.

I agree with you that Amidu must tone down.
OYOKOBA, remember that Justices are part of the Government, though they are not part of the ruling party. What I see here is, this Amidu guy who was the Attorney General is corrupt himself and in bed with these corrupt Justices, at least he himself seems to be selective. What he is doing is an indication that he turned blind eye to the corrupt activities in the Government when he was the Attorney General.
Maybe if he had done his job and come hard on these corrupt Justices, we would not have needed an Anas. He did well with the Woyome case but is Woyome not walking free due to these same corrupt Judges?
If these Justices are allowed to walk, we must consider corruption as normal in Ghana and never cry about it again. The police are watching for that green light and other Justices are also watching and waiting for that day when these corrupt Justices walk.
I am sure if Anas is permitted to do his work, there will be many Anases and we can all fight corruption both inside and outside the Government, and the uncorrupt Judges will not get corrupted.

My friend, you and Oyokoba have some good points and like you stated,I have also both publicly be saying that Amidu is not that great on cortuption because when he was in government we never heard him talk about corruption up until he was fired but the same time we cannot blame him because in Ghana if you talk about such thing about the government that appointed you,you get fired.
I for one from day one of this tape have been saying this tape is bogus and I keep saying somebody including you two should give me just one example where such thing ever happened,an investigator going to a judge, paid him, gave him all kinds of gift including a woman for sex and got criminals out of jail now walking free men but turned around to say what he did was investigation when the very criminal activities that investigation supposed to stop rather aided the release of the criminals including armed robbers, murderers and other criminals.
All Ghanaians are corrupt, corruption has become part of our culture, some may do it in a small way while some may do it in a a bigger way but since there is nothing called small corruption,we are all corrupt including those of us making the noise here, nothing can erase corruption which is taking place right now as I write in Ghana, and I challenge anyone here from Ghana to tell me if he or she never involved in any corrupt practice in Ghana, remember it takes two, both the giver and the receiver are all corrupt, this Anas is even more corrupt than those who he claims are corrupt, going to the government to get paid alone is corruption,he is doing this to get rich but not because he cares for Ghana, that is a fact,in Ghana nobody does anything without considering his personal welfare or his pocket, how that action can make him live a comfortable life, ask yourself if anybody in parliament or government today and those who are fighting to go there, are there or are going there because of the welfare of the people,if they are not doing so because they want to have good living in life.
The only language or the only thing that is unique with Ghanaians irrespective of tribe is corruption, that is a fact and I don't think any action can erase that unless ourselves,it has been institutionalized,in a country where most of the time you have to pay somebody to check to do bank bank transaction

Amidu must come to terms with the full employment of our modern technology in almost every aspect of our lives. The fact that our Constitution has not kept pace with what modern technology is capable of does not necessarily mean employing the technology in ways the old era didn't envision and therefore did not incorporate in our Constitution is illegal.
It is more of what the technology is able to accomplish that needs to be assessed rather than just the use of it. If the technology is used to capture a murder that might have gone unsolved, would Amidu claim that the privacy of the Murderer, for instance, was violated, because the recorder didn't notify the Murderer of his or her intention to record the Murder?
Surely, our Constitution protects our Privacy, and filming or taking photos of individuals without their prior consent could generally be illegal. But that protective shield gets dissolved quickly when a crime is captured by such otherwise illegal filming.
Amidu must tread gingerly in assuming this posture of being the ultimate repository of legal expertise from which he is going to invoke the Constitution to attack everyone who seems to have breached the Constitution even with the best of intentions.
Certain of the acts embodied in the Constitution could have the tendency to be recursive in application to the extent that they could expand to capture situations that were not initially stipulated because of the framers' limitation in envision future vicissitudes.
It is the relative impact of each of seemingly conflicting laws that would determine which supersedes the other.
No mention of Cybersecurity and the crimes it tends to apply to might be present in the older versions of our Constitution, assuming the appropriate constitutional amendments to reflect those have never been made yet. Nevertheless, the old Constitution could still be used to capture Cyber-theft by which a cyber criminal could, say, steal the savings in someone else's account.
In that scenario, all that matters most would be whether or not the Constitution allows us to acknowledge that a theft had occurred and we could identify the culprit, the victim and the object stolen to build a viable case against the criminal.
How the theft was perpetrated would only be a secondary consideration.
The Laws against robbery in our Constitution would then supersede any that might or might not exist to refer to Cyber activities.
Long Live Ghana!!!

Berko, I have been reading you since Amidu started his campaign do believe you're intentionally refusing to face the facts or you don't know it.
As a Ghanaian who abhors very seriously any act of corruption, I can secretly record judges in corrupt practices and have the evidence accepted in criminal court with no one going against me, if I were a whistle blower. There are several instances where individuals used similar tactics in the USA to bring to public attention criminal behavior they secretly recorded.
In the case of Anas, Amidu claimed completely subscribing to the unveiling of the corrupt acts of the judges. What he refuses to accept is Anas acceptiong cash from the Government to do what he could do without government interraction when he hasn't a lawful company for covert operation to expose corrupt practices within the judiciary. In that case, Anas fails to be a whistleblower in the right sense of the word. In truth, if Anas receives monies from the government to do what he did, not only would it be illegal but the contents of the contract would be unknows and the fact that he will be unable to act without bias, or do the bidding of the government tips the odds against him, meaning he could have been directed to misbehave in misrepresenting acts that are suspected to be corrupt involving the judges, and as Amidu claims, certain parts in some of the videos have been truncated to serve the purposes of the president.
Amidu thinks those around the president who are also corrupt also needs investigation and that the president has no need protecting them and selectively having others investigated.
Personally, I love everything Anas did, and I am actually planning to bring him a gift for his tenacity, but he should act without government tutelage.

Meanwhile, Anas has denied receiving any payments or initial motivation from the Government for the exposition of the Judges. If Amidu thinks he has the evidence to prove otherwise, let him present it and possibly go to the Court to nullify Anas's Work. All I heard Amidu keep repeating is a string of circumstantial reasoning to deduce his highly controversial conclusion of labeling Anas a fraud.
I would like you to know also that I have stipulated elsewhere that each of the 3 branches of Government reserves the right to investigate the order if it has a reasonable cause for it. Such an investigation could hardly be safely and successfully done by any of our legally established Law Enforcement Agencies, some of whom are themselves just as corrupt as the other branches of Government could be. On that score, even the President could be investigated under the auspices of either the Judiciary or the Parliament.
There instances where only a paid outside entity could do such a job effectively. So, the fact that Government might even have paid Tiger PI to undertake such investigations does not necessarily constitute a threat to our Constitution. The Government has so far not imposed any verdict on even the Judges caught red-handed in the videos Tiger PI presented, let alone taken to intimidate the Judiciary. The Office of the Chief Justice is the entity that has been leading the processing of the findings of the Tiger PI. It is not the Executive and not the Parliament.
And we should also note that it has not been shown that any of the culprit Judges was a special target for political persecution or recrimination.
From Financial Auditing to highly sensitive criminal investigations of prominent Officials, the Government reserves the right to hire a Private Company to conduct investigations of the target.
Such investigations could, again, be sponsored by either branch of the Government, and the target could be among them, too.
As a former Attorney-General, Amidu should have known the danger of brazenly coming out to declare Anas as Fraud without possessing the hard facts supporting his accusations. We must also be wary of the danger of creating a feud between the Judiciary and the Administration when there had not been any, at least, not overtly.
Having said that, we do not see the Government going after all Judges and Magistrates in Ghana. So, the sampling of the rotten ones could at worst be only for making a point that even the Judiciary could be exposed for corruption. What makes me more enthused about the work of Tiger PI is not even netting the rotten Judges per se, but the fact that it opens up the arena for going after any corrupt elements in the Executive, too. If anything at all, the Judiciary ought to be emboldened to take up all other branches of the Government to expose the rot among them. That is their job. Not even the President is above the Law.
Amidu must not attack the messenger, even if Anas was ordered to do that job, but the sender, if he has the evidence to back his allegations.
Thanks.
Long Live Ghana!!!

I heard Amidu's long circuitous assumptions of criminality that could be charged against Anas and consequently nullify all the work the latter recently did to expose the corrupt Judges. The former Attorney-General predominantly dwelt on the legal status of Tiger PI, the functional legal entity under which Anas did his work to claim Anas is fraudulent. Amidu kept citing cases in the USA to support his arguments.
But in reality, Amidu missed the boat badly. Firstly, the examples he made with the FBI in the USA were only partially explained.
The work of numerous PIs in the USA mostly stand up to the legal litmus-test before taken up by the prosecution. And in most cases, they evidence triumph.
However, generally, it is much more difficult for serious crimes to be thrown out of Court in the USA under any guise or even real incidence of technicalities than in Ghana.
Many cases in which the privacy of individuals, and Company Confidentialities have been invoked to quash the work of PIs or whistleblowers have pitifully failed. The unregistered private individual even reserves certain rights to clandestinely expose crimes in the USA that eventually get successfully prosecuted. Often such citations of breach of privacy or illegal recordings are raised by the defense only to be seen as needless red-herring and disregarded for the full case to be heard.
Therefore, Martin Amidu must quit the frivolous attacks on Anas' work to let the Nation crack down on Corruption. If Amidu did not know, the high exposure of Police brutalities in the USA in recent times has been credited to the private, unsolicited recording of such criminal events by ordinary folks who just casually happen to be present at the crime site. And the cases have stood the legal mustard for due processing of the Police Officials involved.
So, in this case, whether or not the Tiger PI was properly registered as a legal firm would not matter if we really want to punish the central crime involved.
Long Live Ghana!!!

When the thievery and looting stop, the recording will also stop.
Amidu must come to terms with the full employment of our modern technology in almost every aspect of our lives. The fact that our Constitution has not kept pace with what modern technology is capable of does not necessarily m ...

I don't know what Amidu is trying to achieve, the fact is did the judges took the money an ad offered them, is yes what was the intention of taking the money? Did that influence their judgement to free the accused persons?

Someone brave must expose the criminal activities everybody knows about in Ghana.
Even if it was a collaboration with the government or whatever is it not worthy to be praised? This Amidu must be thoroughly investigated including anyone who condemns what Anas did.
