Development pepeni omanhene says is unequaled , and i ask what is the meaning? Is it the total uselessness , or insignificance , level of copying , corruption kick backs or the benefits his kleptomaniac brothers and cronies have acquired , the level of prejudice of against anything that can benefit Akan areas or people . Pepeni has borrowed and created more debt than all the previous presidents before him combined including Nkrumah yet we dont see any results such as the attempts of raising any basic or primary industry to add some value to our natural resources before export that creates jobs for millions as Nkrumah and all presidents except for pepeni and JJ tried to. What is unequaled is the billions that have been siphoned out of the country mainly to islamic destinations like Iran , Dubai and Turkey. He boasts about the nonexistant 200 schools yet forgets over a century ago Akans mainly Fantes built schools that today would each cost no less than 20 million each. He offers markets and toilets as if the local community could not do so themselves if the taxes and various levies collected in those areas remained there. But no pepeni/ayigbe must chop bribe together with their Gas Adas and other satellite allies against the Akans. A govt whose members are selected not based on competence but their level of hate or prejudice against the Akan majority or the family blood ties to pepeni mahama can never serve anybody except their selfish selves and will always fail. The success or failure of any business , govt or social enterprise is determined by the personnel or cadre who execute the defined goals. In our case we need a govt selected based on merit and experience to get us out of this vicious circle of poverty and bad luck , so i would expect to see at least 3 investment bankers , 4 engineers , 2 macro economists and one doctor of project management and that govt with people of integrity will surely have results in less than a year. Competent Ghanaian all decline to associate themselves with NDC and their corruption driven govt.Pepeni went to mislead the chiefs to use festivals to promote market and project development but omitted to tell them no project has made it through the finance ministry without paying an arm and a leg in bribes , talk less of the cabinet or parliamentary committees. Mafias dont need economists or bankers but rather opt for book keepers or accountants like we see in our minister of finance being shadowed spied and watched by pepeni's cousin chief director Alajih Major Tara. Look at former minister of state for development now minister of science technology with his dentist of army qualification Alajih Dr Mustafa Ahmed and tell me he is capable of contributing something good except positioning himself to collect bribes. None of this will ever end up in Ghanian media or newspapers as NDC ( mainly Ga /Ada) activists now holding national security id s go around intimidating the journalists ,editors and owners of these establishments. We know the motive for these useless utterances by pepeni as his strategy ids to hoodwink the people into believing so much has been done for development , with roads , schools etc but notice there is no railway , no health services with modern ambulances including helicopters , fire services lack fighting water tank planes or helicopters talk less of specialised fire fighting equipment as not all will pay bribes , no initiation of any strategically important industry . Just get ready for the whirlwind of propaganda and lies saying the empty projects with no direction is what we couldnt do ourselves so they did. BULLSHIT GALORE

It's his off-the-record remarks I'd like to know. This useless govt lie in public & hide the truth. Ghanaians are suffering because of Mahama's govt's energy & economic mismanagement & have a right to know.

Hei, Mr. Minister, may you stop the comparison to countries in the West Coast and South Africa and find a way of solving the dumsor problem. The NDC government has been saying the same nonsense for the past four years.

This man calls himself a government minister. Talking like an illiterate to Ghanaians who go through the dumsor everday. Mr. Minister, do you know how many businesses have folded up since your foolish policies on energy?

If 70% of the cost is dollar denominated, why not talk to Mahama to save the cedi and save the energy sector? Or there must be automatic adjustment in salary whenever dollar value changes. The buttom line is your govt is not on top of the challenges confronting the nation. Your talk is very subtancial anyway. Again must strategize to save the cedi and save the economy in general. You are always quick in comparing utility bills in the sub-region; you should have done it visa-vi salaries and income because it's the income we use in paying the light bill.

“It is unacceptable and indeed a shame that many of the countries with the highest utilisation of solar power are located in temperate climates that have a relatively much lower level of insolation than India and Africa,” the Ghanaian president lamented on October 29 in India.
And the Power Minister says Solar is not economically viable. Who speaks for Ghana and should be ashamed?

First of all the assertion by the Power Min that coal is the cleanest in terms of power generation is not supported by any documented facts anywhere, none on any part of the Earth. Actually not only is it the most unclean, it is the most unhealthy in terms of its effect on the environment and also on the health of the citizenry. That cannot be a viable alternative over the long term for the generation of power because it's cost makes it prohibitively expensive.
The fact that solar has not been pursued as an alternative energy source over the years does not also in anyway negate the fact that it is one of the cleanest energy sources and also extremely cost effective over the long term. This is aside of other clean sources like wind, gas and nuclear energy.
The attempt to somehow sound the death knell of hydropower as an unreliable power source is also not supported by the facts because as we speak, it remains the biggest contributor to our overall energy capacity mix and would remain so for the foreseeable future, together with the new thermal sources ie crude and gas.
The basic problem though with the current issue of dumsor is however not one of installed capacity, but most importantly, a case of the unavailability of funds which can be interrogated and has been interrogated as to why Ghana has this precarious problem of the unavailability of funds. In the Power Ministers presentation, he said, after 2013, revenues streams dried up. Maybe he would want to throw more light on what he means by revenue streams dried up, because from 2013, cumulatively, Ghanaians have had their utility bills both water and electricity increased by over going by conservative estimates more than 60%, meaning Ghanaians are paying more for utility services which they don't even enjoy. So when the Minister of Power claims, somebody should pay for the power so generated from the thermal sources that has been added to the generation mix, one just does not understand what he means by that statement because it is reflected in the ever increasing utility bill increases by the regulator, ie PURC for utilities which Ghanaians cannot even access although the gov't touts it's credentials as having increased access to about 80% from about 73-74% it came to meet.
So to answer the Minister, Ghanaians are paying for the power generated and maybe if he is so minded, he would begin to question what happens to the monies so paid by Ghanaians for services they don't and can't enjoy, so as to make sense of his statement.
But clearly, what one gathers from the Min of Power is, there is a very palpable and grave sense of a huge lack of vision and competence in the ability of the current Mahama NDC gov't to articulate an intelligent, laser focused solution to the problem of dumsor which has collapsed the country. The Mahama NDC gov't is completely and absolutely bereft of the needed competence, vision, managerial acumen and incorruptibility to address this crass state of dumsor which has gotten to its worst, under the leadership of John Mahama.
It cannot be the case that already impoverished Ghanaians should be subsidizing the incompetence, the mismanagement, the corruption and the looting of a gov't completely clueless about effective governance that engenders economic growth and development and the time to speak to these matters at the ballot box is nigh. The failed and clueless Mahama NDC gov't must surely go in 2016, because a power barge of 225MW can never be an intelligent solution to a power crisis brought in during an election year.

Solar panels store energy from the sun so it can be used during the night. Coal and gas are too detrimental to the environment. I think Mr. Donkor should read more about solar energy systems and how these systems work.
