In 2007 when 17 people were vying to replace Kufuor, Kufuor warned the party to critically evaluate the aspirants and ensure they selected the right person. That in particular, the party should not choose any person who is a source of tension and confusion and always causing conflict, and that the person should be a unifier and one who would keep the party together. Kufuor stressed further that the party must ensure they got one whom they could present to Ghanaians who would be acceptable.

Can you guess who he was indirectly referring to? To me there is no doubly he had only one person in mind: Nana Addo.

The party ignored Kufuor's advice and now the party is in disarray. A Vice-Chairman calling a NEC meeting when the Chairman is body and soul physically present in Accra?

Look at Bawumia lying and doing all the stupid things - the dirty work - with the hope of achieving acceptability. Imagine all the lying and stupidity Bawumia displayed at the Supreme Court. As a muslim, you can't give witness when you have not witnessed an event yourself, i.e. not from hear-say. But there Bawumia was, lying immediately after swearing on the Koran. If you say "You and I were not there" what the hell was he doing in the court pretending to be giving evidence? He will suffer God's anger for such lies.

Anthony Karbo and other northerners specialise in saying the most stupid things which the Akans will not like to come from their mouths.

Afoko was even slapped at the NPP 2007 primaries for no reason whatsoever. Yet he did not get the message that northerners are mere strangers in NPP, only tolerated for their votes and no more.

My sympathies Afoko, for all the humiliation. But it was always coming only you preferred to live in denial!!!

Mr Afoko appears to have been his own enemy in all these matters. As chairman of the party, who presumably means we'll, why this quick resort to the press to discuss party issues? If anybody should do that at all, certainly not the Chairman. He, more than anybody else should know the full implications of such actions to the image of the party in the Ghanaian political terrain. From the time that he was elected as Chairman of the NPP what has he done and/or said that shows him as one really interested in seriously campaigning to wrestle political power from the ruling NDC? The executive positions in political parties should not be seen as ultimate awards to be glories in. Rather they are an opportunity for one to render quality service to the party and the rank and file of its members; above all it is for such executive member(s) to prosecute a vigorous campaign to ensure that the candidates of the party (i.e. The flagbearer and the MPs ) are elected so as to bring the party to power. So if at any time a member of the executive fails to pursue this direct agenda, such executive member would have lost his/her raison d'etre as an executive member. What is even worse is where such executive appears rather to be working against the main candidate of the party- the flagbearer. Then one may ask: what are you holding that office for? Clearly if you cannot prosecute the agenda to get the party's chosen candidates elected, the best is for you to step aside. And if you are not willing to do that voluntarily, the party certainly has a responsibility to ensure that you are put aside. This, to me appears to be what is happening in Afoko's case. He has brought himself to this. This has nothing to do with his being from the north. As a northerner myself, I was happy he was elected to that position. But after following the trend of events, Mr Afoko rather appears to be soiling the good name of people from the north. This should not be encouraged or condoned..

Blay is acting on behalf of Akufo-Addo and his cronies who believe that Agyepong and Afoko are not on their side. Afoko has been suspended. The next person to go will be Agyepong. All for naught. For these actions will not in any way salvage the sinking political ship of Akufo-Addo. The flagbearer can't even keep his party in order. The Akufo-Addo camp within the NPP is fighting a losing battle. Too much distrust, too much discord, too much chaos, and it all adds up to a disastrous finish for the flagbearer and his erratic campaign.

The only reason why the Akufo=Addo faction in the NPP has hastily moved to dethrone Afoko is because it has long suspected that he is not working in the interest of Akufo-Addo. And the charges brought against Afoko's brother for murder of a fellow NPP member further increased the faction's suspicions and concerns over Afoko's loyalty, thereby causing the faction to make this move to oust Afoko. having no proof of Paul Afoko's involvement of the murder of Mahama, the Akufo-Addo faction used some flimsy pretext to accuse him of undermining the party and hence the hasty move to remove him before the campaigns got into full gear. One would think the party would have resorted to attempting to solve its internal problems by using quiet diplomacy, but I guess those wanting to have a Chairman who will be fully controlled by the Akufo-Addo faction either did not care about such attempts at resolving its issues, or perhaps is too blind to see the greater damaging consequences of it's move to oust the Chairman. The end result of this action is the potential for more confusion, disarray, turmoil and distrust within the NPP leading into the 2016 elections, none which bode well for Akufo-Addo's politcal fortunes. Make no mistake about it, this is no suspension, it's a removal from office. Now when serial loser and serial crybaby Akufo-Addo loses again, he'll quickly point to Afoko for being the cause of his third loss. Every political party has its internal wrangling, but the NPP with Akufo-Addo at the helm as flagbearer has been nothing but a self-wrecking train crawling towards an inevitable loss in 2016.
