That is a palpable fact about are society which you can't ignore even if you wish to. Besides, this Ga group are not asking for a Ga representative for the sake of it. Ga-Adangmes are indeed a marginalized group, simply because they are too complacent. Easily willing to share, accommodate and at times sell their souls to the devil.

I believe that their realizations of the dynamics of Ghanaian politics is not flawed, except that their demand is unrealistic. What they need to do is to form a formidable and viable caucus, with huge financial support from within and beyond. Such a caucus will look out for the interest and development of Ga-Adangme communities and businesses. Social, Political and educational matters can be taken into account, for example lending their voice to the recent rant by the education minister on abolishing English as a basis of educating our school kids. The caucus should immediately issue a statement indicating that "NEVER IN THE GREATER ACCRA REGION".

When it comes to politics, Presidential elections, when all you need is 1 gram of weight to tilt the results, the small Ga-Adangme ethnic group should use their caucus power to vote for NPP or NDC during crunch time. That is how you exert power in politics.

Everybody plays this kind of politics around the world. Jewish Americans. Italian Americans, Black Americans. Voltarians - Northerners - Akans etc. - Why shouldn't Ga-Adangmes with the most strategic and vibrant region in all of West Africa, not find a leader to take them down that path?

Didn't the Bible say: "Ask and ye shall be given"? And what are they asking for anyway? Isn't it a reminder to the NDC party to balance the ethnic equation in the party? Are they wrong in doing so? Is it not a fact of our society that we have different ethnic components and that these ought to be managed intelligently in our politics? Can anybody fault this group for reminding the NDC of that necessity? So why all the fuss over this GaDangme group's demand? From where I'm sitting, I think this group are politically smart, sharp, bright and far-sighted to booth. They also have their finger right on the button, politically! I can see that the Akans feel comfortable working with the northerners, and the northerners feel comfortable working with the akans. You can see that from 1979: Dr Limann and Mr Degraft Johnson, Victor Owusu and Naa Yakubu Tali ( Tolon Naa) Adu Boahene and Alhaji Alhassan ( I stand to be corrected) President Kuffuor and Alhaji Aliu Mahama, Prof.Mills and Mr Martin Amidu, Prof Mills and another northerner, Prof. Mills and John Mahama, John Mahama and Paa Kwesi Amissah Arthur, Nana Addo Dankwa and Dr Alhaji Bawumiah. It was only president Jerry Rawlings who was different and he took 2 akans to be his vice presidents and I don't know why he didn't choose a Ga-Adangbe. I don't know but I'm not sure president Mahama will heed to their demand. He will choose who he will feel comfortable working with.

People from other regions have come to stay in Greater Accra and with the coniviance of the Ga-Dangbes themselves have become PMs at the expence of the indigins. Look at Madina, Kwabenya, Tema to mention a few, the youth should should as a matter of fact push so that all constituencies in Greater Accra should for the indigins

At the end of the day the choice of who gets to be the serving President/ Vice in a country is determined on the winning ticket of the chosen democratically elected Party Leader. The Vice is of course chosen on merit of party-membership - it matters less who or where he/she originates from, in this case typical tribal background to be precise. It is totally irrelevant to say the least, trying to seek the position of vice-anything on tribal leanings alone, this kind of political practice is solely limited to African way of thinking and is not to be encouraged or else we continue to be underdeveloped as we are to-day.

I'll be surprised if Ghanaians are buying this type of newspaper which even the mentally-challenged know is meant to sow seeds of discord within the ranks of NDC. The paper doesn't know the credentials Amissah-Arthur brings to the table apart from his academic credentials. For the benefit of those who didn't or don't know, very few people have served in the P/NDC longer than Amissah-Arthur. He has been a quiet but very efficient and effective member since the PNDC and has quietly served on any Board that mattered. However, like a typical Fante, he hasn't blown his horn. So it's not like he came from nowhere to get the Vice-Presidency. Finally, I don't need to explain the politically tactical advantage of him being the Vice-President. I don't believe any true NDC member or caucus who should be aware of these facts will make such insane demand.

What the group is drawing attention to is the need for balancing the tribal equation in order to get NDC's electoral calculus right. Ignore this at your peril. That is the caution they are sounding. Nothing personal against Amissa-Arthur. They make this point clearly so why dance around it?
