As a starting point PURC should publish in the newspaper the direct cost of generation of the electricity using the hydro and gas plants. Then they can show cost of distribution of the electricity. This way the public can study and understand better to be able to compare whether the existing tariffs are adequate or whether any additional increase is justified. Unless the public is educated with actual figures nobody will accept or understand such increases. We are all aware of the waste and excess spending by many of the institutions so the public has every right to challenge such increases until they are convinced with actual numbers.

its my hope the leaders of the unions made their point to the purc that it will not support any high increases in tariffs. wages have not been increased for quite a long time while fuel price increases have consequently shot prices of foodstuff up. this attitude of the government just passing on cost to consumers every time there is a financial crunch is indicative of the ineptitude of the managers of the economy. if this is how a government runs an economy, then anybody can be a president or finance minister. please, we need thinkers who will come up with innovative ideas to salvage this country. i hope for once the leaders of the trade unions will stand against this imposition of increase in tariffs. let them consult their members before taking any decisions on this issue.

The TUC has not been able to help Ghanaian workers. Sometime in the past, the TUC leadership was able to negotiate with government to make sure that the living conditions of workers do not deteriorate. However, within the last 6 years or so, workers conditions of living have deteriorated very badly and all that the TUC has been able to do is to issue empty threats to government to reverse the harsh economic conditions. When the government does not reverse the harsh conditions, TUC leadership just looks on. Lord have mercy on Ghana.

NDC government must live by example. Pay the debts own the ECG before purc think of any tariff increase. Simple maths, and stop pressuring citizens with tariffs.

You are nothing but a complete CRIMINAL hiding behind that useless entity, PURC, to wreak havoc on Ghanaians. No decent woman anywhere on the globe can conceive of over 75% price hike in utility tariffs at a time! This nonsense can happen only in Ghana under heartless John Dramani Mahama. Foolish Woman! Ghana is currently governed by dogs. Ghanaians have already been slapped with over 300% hike in vehicle insurance this year. Nkwaseasem!
