As a matter of fact, the pecking order of citizenship goes like birth in uk > naturalization > citizenship through descent ( i.e. those not born in uk but who obtained citizenship cos their parents hold British citizenship). This means a naturalized ghanaian british actually holds a more favourable position that a white british who was not born in the uk.

I can also say with reasonable certainty that, he made money for his employers in the past, bypassing any regulatory measures they had in place. Maybe close association with the powers that be, got him stepping "out of line".

I believe the guy has talent that we need in Africa. If he has learnt his lesson well, success will definitely come if he associates with a good organization in Ghana or any other African country.

Acquiring citizenship, means you will be handled differently in most immigration cases.

A friend of mine swore never to acquire US citizenship, util he worked for a consulting firm in Saudi Arabia. He noticed a stark difference in the way Saudis treated citizens from European nations, America, Canada, Japan etc., when compared to him, a green card holder. The treatment was simply based on the passport you held. Needless to say, he had a change of mind and acquired the passport. I asked him, charley why go through this extra stress, knowing how bad the cards are stacked against you- a black man.

To your point, having the passport holds technical value when dealing with immigration matters. But Ghana, your country of birth will always be dear to your heart and soul.

So I returned to Ghana in 2012 and so far I've changed three excellent jobs. I'm now having my dream job at one of the most respected institutions in Ghana (on my own merit). Kweku, fight for your rights, but if you will have to come home I can assure you that you will get back on your feet and rise to the very top within a twinkle of an eye, cos you are one of the brightest (I applied to join UBS but failed along the way..but you successfully joined them and rose to become the ‘face’ of UBS). It's quite unfortunate how things have turned out but heyy man you may be down now but certainly not out. If you happen to be returned home, I will personally look for you and see how best I (together with other well-meaning friends and professionals) can assist. The British used our forefathers, have used some of us and will continue doing so. See how they used one of our colleagues called Maxwell Maundy (just google his name or watch him talk to Ameyaw Debrah on youtube: www.youtube.com/watch?v=jXlu45Wmoik)
