Hey, NPP, where the hell do you stand on the size of government & the number of ministers? What about income & property taxes? And—your core ideological positions on higher education, CORRUPTION, abortion, healthcare for the people, job creation, and decentralization of power to the regions? And when we’re at it, what about ELECTING M/DCEs, Negroes?
*Class: The same questions to the NDC, CPP, Akua Donkor & the others and, boy, you would get the same doggone answers or no answers at all. That is: “our politicians believe or disbelieve in the same damn things.” These fools are in politics not HAVING one strand of political ideology in their veins, but they call themselves POLITICIANS? In the western democracies like the USA, Canada, UK, Germany, France, etc., we always have hard conservatives as well as hard liberals—on the opposite sides of major issues. Take a stand on big issues, Negro!!
Professor Akosa is dead right, because after Independence, some one million years ago, when the governance of Ghana was handed over to these African Negroes, WHAT HAVE BEEN THE SIGNIFICANT CHANGES & DEVELOPMENTS DO WE HAVE TO SHOW FOR—except poverty, joblessness, hunger, reckless borrowing, etc.
So, give credit to Dr. Nkrumah for his political foresight to do many things, with very little funding, in a very short period of time: Examples: Tema motorway, Kole Bu hospital, WACRI, Akosombo dam, Government Educational Trust (GET) by which several secondary schools, technical & training colleges were built, Job 600, etc., etc., although I disagreed with his political ideology of socialism—government control of means of production.
But, unfortunately, with all the resources Ghana has, nothing is happening in that Mickey Flick—because our village politicians are damn BUSY STEALING from state coffers and that's why Ghana is still POOR and under developed!!

Go and see how Prez Mahama of Ghana has transformed Gonjaland with Ghana money just within the two and half years that he has been in power. Every town, village and hamlet in Gonjaland has received a facelift with new facilities such as roads, toilet facilities, markets, mosques, good quality water projects, electricity extension projects, etc. The question is did J. J. Rawlings do the same thing to Voltarians when he was in power for twenty years? What about Atta Mills. The good old Prof was in power for three and a half years yet he was not selfish to only concentrate on his people in Ekumfi Etuam and the central Region but rather his whole thought was for the general good. No wonder under the care of Prez Mills, Ghana achieved a growth rate of 11%, single digit inflation and the smooth implementation of the Single Spine Pay Policy where newly recruited police personnel received the nominal equivalence of 500dollars as monthly salary. Compare these achievements to the nepotism and selfish policies of the Mahama government that has crippled the Ghanaian economy. I really weep for Ewes and Fantis whose votes brought Mahama to power and yet are the hardest hit by the current hardship prevailing in the country.

Kwame Nkrumah and atta mills were the best presidents of Ghana. Kwame Nkrumah never carried a pesewa in his pocket and he never built for himself and family a house. He was so mindful for the betterment of the whole Ghanaians. He didn't steal state money for himself and family. His enemies led by late abrefa busia and Edward akuffo addo on several occasions attempted to assassinate him through bombings but that failed until they used unprofessional Ghanaian soldiers like ek. Kotoka and Afrifa to over throw him by armed force on 24th February 1966. Thereafter busia and his gang of thiefs paid to themselves a two year salary advance , deeped their dirty hands into our state coffers and amassed a lot of wealth. In the process all the good works of dr. Kwame Nkrumah in his attempt to equate Ghana to other leading and successful countries in the world were all abandoned by those nation wreckers. If anybody doesn't know prof busia and his bloody team started the problems of Ghana we are feeling today. Infact they had the characteristics of the elephants and termites' LOCATE AND DESTROY' the off springs of those nation destroyers, are the very people who are today raising the political
temperature in the country and wishing that the country is in flames because their leader and tin-god akuffo addo wasn't made the president of Kwame nkrumah's Ghana. Like fathers like sons!

Three contractors were BIDDING to fix a broken fence at the Flag Staff House in Ghana
One was from Nigeria , another from Ghana and the third, from
China .
They went with a Flag staff house official to examine the fence.
The Nigerian contractor took out a tape measure and did some measuring,
then works some figures with a pencil. "Well", he says, "I figure the job
will run about $900. ($400 for materials, $400 for my team and $100 profit
for me)".
The Chinese contractor also did some measuring and figuring, then says, "I
can do this job for $700. ($300 for materials, $300 for my team and $100
profit for me)".
The Ghana contractor didn't measure or figure, but leans over to the
Flag Staff House official and whispers, "$2,700."
The official says, incredulous, "You didn't even measure like the other
guys! How did you come up with such a high figure?"
The Ghana contractor whispers back, "$1000 for me, $1000 for you, and we
hire the guy from China to fix the fence."
"Done!" replied the government official

thier intention is to bring Ghana to its needs.
And when they caught, people would want to sympatize with them.
the miltary gunshot in succession can only stop these corrupt official.
Rawlings took a brave stands by killing the corrupt leaders; at end of his sevice to Ghana, the impression was and has been that, his team was more worse off.
My problem with this is not Rawlings and his team ending up with "big booty" -very sad,yes very bad indeed.
Other Politicians look at this group and say to themselves, and say, afterall when i embezzle State Money, nothing would done to me,so why not? They go on and grab and truelly, they go free and "chop their booty".
Kufour as a successor should have killed them like Rawlings did. If Kufour had gone all out like Rawlings did by killing the corrupt leaders of the previous goverment,i can bet that the corruption which has become endermic in our system, would have eroded by 90% if not 100%.
In fact, i'm afraid this is how we should fight corruption in Ghana. This rule of Law approach would not help, let us try this successive killings of leaders who come in only to loot. We should even go further to include their immediate families in the killings as a deterrent to those who will come forward for these leadership positions. If they do not think twice, their family members will own them up before they complete their term office. I see this as the only system we should put in place to address corruption in our society.
I think we are following the western developed countries in hurry without thinking of the fact that, they put up systems in place to check corrupt officials.
My question is ,HAVE WE PUT UP THESE SYSTEMS IN PLACE ? NO! WHY THEN ARE WE RUSHING?

We all seem to know what is killing us. Our sickness has been many times established, recognized, diagnosed. But what potent remedy exists for curing it?
All we have been doing over these many years is crying about the canker, the evil Corruption, that is killing our Economy. Yet, no one has ever provided any reasonably effective solution.
Our Elites and loud-mouth intellectuals, many of whom are Professors with PhDs., have only been trading insults at each other for belonging to opposing Political Parties. They are not even fighting over which alternative solutions they are offering to solve our problems. All they care for is screaming their Academic laurels and exhibiting their prowess in the Queen's English to belittle all who dare question their purpose of writing or interacting with the Public.
The closest we have come to finding a solution to our almost incurable corruption is the current video exposure of our Judges' engagement in the evil practice. But even so, we still do not know how that work of Anas' would last to make any change.
When Rawling's AFRC crashed in unto our Political scene, it drove a hard rod down our spine to help us sit up and smell the coffee. The harsh, brutal way the AFRC went about its function offered only a momentary reprieve as many feared to victimized like the executed Generals and the flogged Market Women. Soon after the AFRC left the scene, after its 90-day duration, we scrambled back into the field of economic cannibalism, devouring each other with impunity and anything that has a State label on it. The Corruption we had termed as 'Kalabule' and the AFRC thought it had suppressed to its barest minimum, or even uprooted, then resurrected with a more dangerous hydra-headed mutation. So, now we have it as Woyomegate, SADA-gate, Gyeeda-gate, Drill-Ship-gate, and Divestiture-gate... and more.
We must therefore stop wailing and trading blame and tie our aprons to that of Anas to expose the rot and demand a swift and thorough Justice for all who flaunt our Laws to keep us under the spell of Corruption.
This may be our very last line of survival to redeem ourselves and the Nation. I would even dare suggest we entreat the Hague to take cases of massive corruption as crime against Humanity to ensure better Justice to the culprits.
Long Live Ghana!!!

Prof, you expressed it just perfectly!!! About 99.999% of these aspiring politicians irrespective of party affiliation have two things on their mind to accomplish while in office. 1) To steal money from the state's coffers 2) To gain cheap popularity and social influence or niche to be used even when they leave office. They believe that they have occupied that position by virtue of scoring high to have been selected and that the office belongs to them for them to use it anyway they want to use it. They forget that they have been chosen to serve the state and the people. The western arena especially in the USA is significantly different. They come into office to leave a legacy of patriotism through 'service to the nation". The type of problem is not limited to only Ghana but widespread through out the continent of Africa. Presidents come into office very poor but at the end of their tenure if they choose to step down, they become filthy rich without any accountable and auditable efforts. Why is the USA politicians so different from the politicians in Ghana? Afterall, the two groups are the same human beings. It seems like everybody in Ghana is aspiring to get into politics to get rich.

It is not entirely true that politicians in western nations go into politics just to leave legacy. I live in the US, and there are several stories about politicians caught in stealing public funds. The only difference is that in most of the western countries, the law works, so when a politician is caught, he is prosecuted to the full extent of the law. For example, the son of Rev. Jessie Jackson has just been released from jail for embezzling public funds when he was serving as a Member of House of Representative. If it was in Ghana, nothing would happen. Look at how the allegation of bribery by some judges are being handled.

aaaaHere is an out of college boy politician with no previous experience of having done any job in his life, over a political life of 8 years in parliament and in government now as a minister, in 2013 was the 9th richest man in Ghana, telling nurses that it is normal to work and not be paid for one year and any protest or strike to get paid after failed promises is illegal. Can you believe this? Shame on you!
The voters asked you to manage the affairs of the country and what you do is to steal the resources and enrich yourselves. You did say it all. Now, how can the problem be solved? This problem of "monkey see, monkey do" is indeed troubling. As politicians are doing it left and right, by way of stealing and buying big houses, and nothing being down to them even when caught red handed, what do you expect others to do? So we are in a situation where you are a big fool if you don't grab your share if an opportunity knocks at your door. The current 34 judges on suspension just did what others (politicians, police men) are doing and getting away. Ghana is indeed rotten to the bone.
