Jerry Rawlings alone got away with three coups. That is the highest disrespect for the laws of the land. The NDC, by itself, and a product of these coups, is a gratification of that lawlessness. And you can see it from their behavior - from John Mahama to the messenger at the $20 million NDC head office. Not only that; Jerry Rawlings' daughter, with two political parties in her house, is now out to rub it in our eyes.

Our problem in Ghana is that we have too many people who have failed in their own lives, doing politics. They take politics as their last resort to make it in life. Therefore most people in authority today see politics as making money, but not to sacrifice or serve the nation.Unfortunatly poverty have swallowed majority of Ghanaians, they don't have the peace of mind to think about who is real or fake, theirs is,who can pay more gets my vote.So the people voted into power have no regard for the laws of the land nor the people, because they feel they have bought the people to shut up.Untill all of us(Ghanaians)are prepared to "suffer and sacrifice "a bit and vote for the right people who can steer this nation in a right direction, and stop thinking of only what we will eat today,I am afraid we are not going anywhere.Almost sixty years after independence,we don't even have regular electricity,we still have people under twenty years who are illiterates.Ghana is only counted among poor and corrupt nations,is it not a shame?

Rawlings made Ghanaians aware of the extent of corruption in the country. Let us be realistic to the situation going on right now in our country. Unless the country changes the law, to include anybody in public office caught for corruption should be sentence to death and all their properties/assets seized to the state for auction to the public. This should include from the president, MPs, the police, customs, judges...... We should remember, the higher the penalty, the lower the crime. This is the only way to combat corruption in Ghana.

Herbert Ghanaians have always known that all our institutions are corrupt, it all began after our so-called independence. People who belonged to opposition parties under the CPP government will tell you how the CPP used these same institutions to persecute them and amass wealth for members of the CPP (its ironic when I read people estolling the so-called virtues of the CPP under Kwame Nkrumah - we have short memories because of this inability to punish people in authority when they abuse their positions).
The judiciary: any Ghanaian who has had the misfortune to deal with our courts will tell you about what they have to endure to come out of the den of theives we call a court. What is going on today with regards to Anas's expose should tell you how the operatives in the court: judges, lawyers, the police and clerks use delay, procrastination to frustrate and extort favours from naive participants.
We have always known the judiciary is corrupt, what Anas's did is only to confirm this rot on tape. Look at decisions taken by our judges in recent times to confirm this. Examples: the cocaine that turned into soda after the evidence has been left by the police in the court house as evidence? Look for the judge who pioneered this sham of a decision and you will know how rotten the system is. How about the judges who accepted "gifts" in the form of parcels of state lands from the NPP under Kufour? (The hypocrisy of this president is beyond belief when he lamented on the corruption in the judiciary - what did he think the gift was? Monthly pay, or yearly bonus).
Take the decision of the hight court judge in Woyome vs. the Republic: Woyome's company was not at anytime granted a contract to construct the stadia so in effect he did not spend a cedi on the construction. How then did this judge arrive at a figure of c51,000,000.00 (Fifty one million new Ghana cedis) as compensation?
We have always known the the judiciary is corrupt, Anas's only confirmed what we have always known.

Hmm! well spoken my mentor. And every body right from head of bodies/organizations/institutions, chiefs, government appointees and politicians cannot be exempted. if indeed we can actually point out that poor leadership has been the cause of our unending problems all this while. And yet Ghanaians are seen either appointing, approving or electing the same crop of bad leaders. the answer to this wonderness, maybe, could be that all the Ghanaian electorates are soo damp to the irreparable level or there is everything absolutely wrong with our leadership election process. let's wise-up Ghana leaders! let's wise-up the youth.

Hubert please don't disturb your head on this Ghanaian problem. Blame your late father and the Danquah-busia tradition. They gave birth and institutionalized corruption in our country. When dr. Kwame Nkrumah was leading Ghana the issue of corruption was not as big as we experience it today. Kwame Nkrumah never even carried a pesewa in his pocket until the criminals and the parents of currption in Ghana forced their way into governance by inciting and counseling bad boys like e.k. Kotoka and akwesi Afrifa to oust Kwame Nkrumah by armed force on 24th February 1966. Immediately they grabbed political power from akwesi Afrifa and co, they immediately paid to themselves two years salary advance before commencing work as a PFP Government led by bloody prof abrefa busia. They chased out our neibouring brothers and sisters from Nigeria through an aliens compliance order and shared among themselves properties left behind by the departed fellow nigerians. Most of our nigerian brothers and sisters died on the way to Nigeria whilst a lot of them were born in that unfortunate exodus. The off springs of the bloody and wicked Danquah-busia tradition currently being led by akuffo addo whose late father was the ceremonial president under prof Busia are following the footsteps of their bloody late fathers and brothers and making Ghana ungovernable the same way their late fathers and uncles did to our once legendary and vision leader dr. Osagyefo Kwame Nkrumah because they wanted political power at all cost that time. Fellow Ghanaians, what do you think would have been Ghana today, if those nation wreckers had not bloodly ousted Kwame Nkrumah in 1966? Ghana would have been the best country every human being from other counties would have wished to visit. The Danquah-busia tradition has the characteristics of the elephant and termites "DESTRUCTIVE" and "DIVISIVE". Wherever they are, peace does not prevail. Like the ISIS of today no any other religion will be allowed to co exist with them. The hot blood that ran through the veins of busia, Edward akuffo addo and their likes, is the same hot blood running through the veins of the current leaders of that cursed tradition!

This is the fundamental problem facing our nations. It looks like our leaders are aware of all this brilliant suggestions you have made but they will rather put their personal interests first and let the country suffer. In a democracy, it is the rule of law that serves to control everything the citizens do. If those in the charge of the rule of law are corrupt it is no surprise that we always say that in Ghana the doesn't work. For the good of country of citizen let for ones do the right by putting more business minded people in position of power and men if profound integrity in the our institutions.

Here is an out of college boy politician with no previous experience of having done any job in his life, over a political life of 8 years in parliament and in government now as a minister, in 2013 was the 9th richest man in Ghana, telling nurses that it is normal to work and not be paid for one year and any protest or strike to get paid after failed promises is illegal. Can you believe this? Shame on you!
The voters asked you to manage the affairs of the country and what you do is to steal the resources and enrich yourselves. What is your salary as a minister to enable you to amass $300 million in a few years to be the 9th richest person in Ghana. Let the facts speak and Ghanaians make up your minds about who is fooling who and whether you continue to sit on your arses and be fooled.

True justice is beyond the reach the bulk of the citizenry by virtue of how connected they are, depth of their purse, competence of their representation, how informed are they of their civic rights, and how transparent the entire setup is. One area that needs looking at is the independence of the judiciary and how its setup. How a barely literate police (with no fit-for-purpose legal training) double as state prosecutor. The entire setup is a joke open to serious abuse and corruption. Like most of our laws and public institutions there are just too much loopholes and wriggle rooms for any percept who intends to defraud, and one is inclined to think that is deliberate. Legal Plunder comes to mind. I can go on and on but I'll leave it to others to chip in theirs as well.

The government spend too much on ministers and other government appointees. A government official has a house, a car, a driver for himself, one for the wife and kids, garden boy, house help all at the expense of the government. If your wife can't cook or not a good cook it's better for the government official to bear that responsibility if he has to employ some one from outside. Our farmers enjoy just a little bit of our resources whilst these government officials swim in luxury and still looting our coffers. There should be some changes. They applied for the position they handle and they shouldn't be treated diffrenly. At least they are not infallible.
