All the gulf states get significant gov't subsidies in order to provide services that other asian, european, and american airlines cannot provide. Let's not go down that model since that was the problem with Ghana Airways encountered in the first place.

  How can an airline be labelled as National if the Government does not own or control the majority stake? If Qatar Airlines wants to fly to and from Ghana, I have no problems. However, I am against Qatar having a share or control of our National Airline. What is so difficult about flying a plane to and from destinations? Ghana Airways failed because of corrupt management & staff. We lack personal discipline in Ghana and self confidence. We are being made to think that we cannot do anything or manage our own affairs.

  Or courtship.The only way Qatar will accept partnership with ghana in this regard is when ghana agrees to relinquish management positions and controls to Qatarians.In that case we might as well name it Qatar airways with a ghana flag.Fact is they will never pump huge sums of money into it only to be mismanaged by ghanaians.They are not as stupid as we are.Look at ghana airways.It always counted losses but when the routes were given to Lufthanza, ghanaians started counting gains and wanted a piece of it from the Germans. ....result of a diplomatic rowe that ensued with the Germans suspending their operations in ghana for a brief period.Then we tried again knowing the germans were making money.It would sink again like a stone dropped in a river . Government makes money from taxes from businesses (corporate ) and workers (income).Government has no role in business ventures. In ghana government business is seen as "private " enterprise for its officials and cronies. They never make money for government, they make money for themselves!
